Recommendations required

Hello,

We have several machines, which are fairly old now. We got them quite cheap. We are wondering what to replace them with in spec, but they are mainly used for surfing the internet or word processing. Any idea whats the next level up from the specification I have shown below?

Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz (architecture: x64; 2993 MHz)
3.9 GB RAM
Windows 10

We are not looking for a super machine though, can't afford those things, I was told to look for an I7 machine, but they can be quite pricey.

You do not need an I7, an I3 9100 which is a quad core 3.6 ghz would suffice. Would suggest getting 8gb of memory though.

Ryzen 3 2200G processors are sitting at $80 right now.

If you're wanting to buy pre-builts, anything AMD Ryzen 3 or as John stated, Intel i3-9100/ 8100 and 8GB of RAM.

Are you OK with used machine?

You can find used PC with i5 6400/ 6500 around $250 on ebay.
