Startup

My computer is running slow and it's 5 years old and it's a i5 4690. I have 22 startup programs that are enabled and 6 that are disable. I don't know if these startup programs are making my computer slow and I don't know which ones to disable if that's the case or maybe I need a new and faster computer?

Show us a screenshot of the startup tab in task manager with all the programs listed.

Uninstall programs you don’t use
Disable startup programs you don’t need starting up
Scan for viruses also download malware bytes free version and run a scan
Also how much ram does your computer have

I guess I'll have to go through 20 programs on the Internet and see what they are and that should be a couple of hour work
I have a virus checker and also Malwarebytes
I have 8 GB of RAM which I never used anywhere near that much.

You have a decent amount of high impact startup programs. Most of those programs on that list can be disabled but not sure if you use them at startup or not. If you don't use steam a lot, disable that. You use windows live messenger? If not, disable/uninstall. Some of those don't even know what they are.

The less programs on your system the better but 8 gb of ram is more than enough to run all of them
Disable the high impact startup programs and see if that helps
Check the available space on your hard drive and see how much of the 8 gb of ram is usable

I'm am running an SSD drive for my C:\ with 21 startup programs. Would it hurt to disable all that I can. I don't really understand this much but if I disable a startup that I need then it will just startup when I need it and will just take a few seconds longer. It wouldn't hurt to just disable all the startup that it will allow me to disable?

In my view, you shouldn't be experiencing any slowdowns. Sounds like something else may be going on. What exactly do you mean by the computer is running slow?

How old is the SSD?
