Trinidad Riser

Hi,
I have what it called a Trinidad Riser card in my S51 Thinkcentre. It has two slots, one white and one back. The board says "PCIe 1x-ADD2-R SLOT" I'm wondering if I can use the black slot for a video card, something faster than the onboard card. I already have a 3com ethernet card in the white (PCIe) slot.
Thanks,
..... john
P.S. I'm using Windows xp

Unfortunately, you would be better off getting a newer system. What you have available is a pci and pcie x1 slot and I'm thinking you need a low profile card. The white slot is the pci slot and the black should be the pcie slot. Without seeing the motherboard, would be hard to tell though.

The white one is a pci slot and the black one is a pci express slot. Only problem I see is that the interface is pci it seems. Not sure how well adding a pcie video card will be. My question would be with using the riser card, do you have a slot on the case to be able to put a video card?

Hi john,
I can install the card, but every one I've tried causes the system not to boot. I've read, since I posted, that the PSU on this computer, is too low a rating to run an add on card. So, it looks like a waste of time.
Thanks,

Hi John,
I've tried several old cards I have here, and the computer would not boot after putting any of them in.
But, I've scrapped my efforts to get this thing (Thinkcentre) to run at any kind of acceptable speed, and have gone
back to my old Asus p42e, which seems to run alright, for now.
Thanks for your help.
