Huge Pop-ups

For the last two or three weeks I have been getting 3"x 3" Adverts coming up at the bottom right hand side of my monitor. I checked on line and someone said it was Chrome who was doing this and I should follow instructions given to enter at top of Chrome web page to stop them I did this with no cure at all. I then decided to uninstall Chrome completely from my computer as it was not my mail browser. Still no solution. I did the same with Opera and uninstalled it and still could not get them to stop. My Virus checker states that there is nothing on my computer to cause any Problems. Can anyone offer any suggestions as it is annoying when each advert shows up it takes over the screen and nothing else can be selected until I delete it.

What antivirus are you using? Sounds like a typical malware/adware. Malwarebytes is pretty good at picking that junk up.

What antivirus have you got?

Try installing and running malwarebytes and see if anything pops up.

(EDIT: I sent this message before I saw beers' message lol...)

I am using the bought and paid for AVG which I know is not the best but it was on offer!! I'll try Malaware Bytes now and let you know if it finds anything. Thanks in meantime for both of your help

I downloaded Malware Bytes and ran it. It did discover several 'iffy" files and deleted it deleted them Re-booted and all went well for about 15 minutes and they started coming up again one after the other - always the same adverts that have no interest to me or anyone else for that matter. Cures for Haemorrhoids and how to make £8,500 per week with no outlay etc!! I am at my wits end and am considering getting a small can of petrol, a match and taking the computer out to the back garden and burning the pop up maker out of it or some vicar/priest to carry out an exorcism on it!! While i was typing this the latest one is Labelled Surprising Video from London which will show you how to make £975 every day!!

My guess is that you have some program installed doing this, especially since its really not happening on one certain browser. What operating system are you using? Disable any unnecessary startup programs. Certain free antivirus programs will show popups in the bottom right hand corner to get you scared and upgrade to their paid program. You may also want to think about uninstalling AVG temporarily and see if it stop. Can you give us a screenshot of these popups?

Do you have the Vivaldi web browser installed? Only asking cause thats the title of the popup. If so, just uninstall that web browser.
