Hi there,

I want to upgrade the RAM on my PC.

Currently, it contains the following hardware:
- Intel DH61BE motherboard
- Intel Core I5-2400 CPU 3.10 Ghz
- 2x DDR3 PC3-10700 (667 Mhz) 2GB
- Sapphire Radeon HD6770 1GB video card

I want to upgrade the RAM to 2x 8GB.
Could I use 2x Kingston ValueRAM KVR1333D3N9/8G ?
Or do you have a better suggestion?

Kind regards,

Max

Have a look on your motherboards manual to see what type of ram it supports this will also tell you how many ram slots it has
Also you need to find out if you’re system supports 64 bit processing, if not upgrading ram will be pointless as your os won’t be able to use it
Post back with this information and I’ll advise you as best as I can

Here is the support information of the MB.

@BulldogBuzz
It has two RAM slots. My system is running 64 bit architecture so that is no problem.

@Cisco001
It's not u must to have 16GB of RAM. I think 8GB will also be fine. I just want to find out which memory type I need in terms of frequency.
So would the KVR1333D3N9/8G of Kingston work? It is DDR3 1333 MHz. So it will work right?

Well even for that older system its worth upgrading from only 2x 2GB of ram, but I don't think there are many situations where that cpu could make use of 16gb, I would just go for 8gb.

Just get 2x4gb kit of ddr3 1333mhz ram. You probably don't need 16gb, 8 will be just fine.

You can check 64 bit support in Intel's ARK under Instruction Set. I'm pretty sure any i Series processor is 64 bit. Really isn't a concern anymore, if it's 32 bit then it'll be too slow for Windows 10 anyway.

On the Intel side, I think everything since the late P4 days is 64 bit. Agreed that it isn't a concern anymore. Even ARMs are 64 bit now.
I remember stumbling on a few systems running Windows 10 32 bit with a "supported" processor. Maybe Pentium D's or early Core2Duo's? Think they pulled 32 bit support entirely now but could be wrong.

Think it was just a matter of them being installed in 32 bit mode even if the processor supported it. Just remember having issues with some customers.

945 chipset from memory

Hi everyone,

I ordered 2x 4GB DDR3 1333 Mhz RAM and hope to receive and install it in the coming weeks.

Thanks for the advice!
