Building a desktop for photo editing in Photoshop and raw processing with Canon software. Important to me is longevity of use and not having to upgrade over time. My Current computer is well over 5yrs old and was rolling along until windows ended support as well as my new printer requires OS 10. I have been researching and have come up with a list to post up for review and comment. This list was compiled on the pcpartspicker site and showed no compatibility issues, so here we go.

Ryzen 7 3800X
MB Asus Prime X570 + WiFi
Ram Corsair Vengeance RGB 32GB DDR4-3400
Storage (2) Samsung 970 evo 1TB m2 2280nvme
GPU XFX Radeon Rx 580 8GB GTS XXX ED
Case NZXT H510 ATX
PS Corsair RM (2019) 750w 80 gold
OS win 10 pro

this list totals just over $1500 and is a good price point fo me. So any thoughts on this would be helpful

samsung 970 evo is expensive, i would probably opt for cheaper one.
Sabrent Rocket/ Adata 8200 pro are $150. I can't see why you spend extra on 970 evo

I don't think Ryzen 7 3800X worth over 3700X

MB - which one did you choose? Asus X570 Prime P/ Pro don't include wifi.

Photoshop is not hardware taxing at all. What you spec'd out was way over kill for Photoshop.
But if you're going into video editing in the future, your machine is well geared for it.

thanks for the reply Cisco, the difference in price for the two 970 egos and the 3800 is right at $80 and I can live with that. Thanks for pointing it out though.

the Asus X570 Plus WiFi I would assume had WiFi??

thanks for the reply ssal,

I agree photoshop isn’t a big draw on the processor and I am overshooting the mark for it. Raw file processing is a bit more demanding but you are right about over kill on that as well. But you see I am a old hotrodder and can’t help my self. It is an indulgence I admit. That said My previous machine was built out pretty strong and it held up well for many years. There is a possibility of some video projects in the future so it is good to know that this set up will be up for that. Thanks again Ric
