Hi,

Could someone please clarify as soon as possible which one is the latest model for this Lenovo G450 model either DDR3 PC3-12800 CL=11 Unbuffered NON-ECC DDR3-1600 1.35V) or Crucial 4GB 1600MHz DDR3L 204-Pin Laptop Memory (CT51264BF160B) because as per Amazon mobile app laterone (Crucial 4GB 1600MHz DDR3L 204-Pin Laptop Memory (CT51264BF160B) is the newer RAM model but as per crucial company firstone is the latest and compatible laptop ram for lenovo laptop g450 model.

Please find below link for Crucial compatible products for Lenovo G450.

https://www.crucial.in/compatible-upgrade-for/lenovo/lenovo-g450

Also is Crucial the best brand for RAM to speedup lenovo G450 Laptop model?

Thanks much....

Basically any ram that is DDR3 1600mhz SOdimm non-ecc will work. Not sure how much current memory you have installed but it will only support 8gb total, 2 x 4gb sticks.

Thanks for your inputs I have 320 GB Hard disk and planning to buy 240 GB Crucial SSD as well so whichone would be better here to boostup my lenovo G450 Laptop model out of these two DDR3 PC3-12800 CL=11 Unbuffered NON-ECC DDR3-1600 1.35V) or Crucial 4GB 1600MHz DDR3L 204-Pin Laptop Memory (CT51264BF160B) ?

Also would windows 10 would work fine on this laptop or i should go for Windows 7 for this lenovo G450 Laptop model.

Thanks ...

As I said, any ram should work that is ddr3 1600mhz.

After looking deeper into this laptop, are you saying that this is still running Windows Vista?

To be honest, you really need to save up for a new machine. Windows Vista and 7 is no longer supported and there is no guarantee that windows 10 will even install correctly on it.

so both are good noone is better than other here?

secondly this laptop was running smoothly on windows 7 eversince i got windows 10 installed on it, it became hanging so planning to return to windows 7 now with 240 gb ssd and two pairs of 4gb rams but was confused whichone would better here out of these two models(DDR3 PC3-12800 CL=11 Unbuffered NON-ECC DDR3-1600 1.35V) or Crucial 4GB 1600MHz DDR3L 204-Pin Laptop Memory (CT51264BF160B))

Even if no support for Windows 7 i available then what could be the harm to continue on windows 7 ?

Thanks much..

Without a model number, I can't tell what these even are, they might be desktop ram instead of laptop ram.

The crucial website only lists the one item, which is the other one you listed.

You will definitely need an ssd drive to speed that thing up. If it was hanging on windows 10 then its probably just because of the old hard drive and windows 10 really needs an SSD to run efficiently especially with the low amount of ram you have.

Thanks and sorry for any confusion if you had with my two different RAM models.

Please refer these links and advise which one is best for my laptop Lenovo G450 Model.

yes, you are right after careful observation I found both are same only again sorry for my mistake.

also is this the best approach ? such 2 RAMs(Crucial company's

CT51264BF160B

) 4gb each the best RAM I could buy for this laptop or would you suggest even any betterone RAM compatible with this laptop?

also will this crucial ssd 240 gb(https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B07G3YNLJB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) be sufficient for this laptop and considering it's hard disk size 320 gb what sort of harddisk partions would you recommend?

also will Caddy be required if we plan to move new 240 GB SSD inplace of HardDisk and HardDisk in place of DVD- ROM , If yes then which model company would be compatible for the same laptop Lenovo G450 Model?

So after all these upgradation do you feel Windows 10 Should run smoothly on this lenovo G450 Laptop model?

Thanks much..

Its really not gonna matter what ram you use, if you can find a different brand cheaper then what you can get other one then get it. I just don't know whats available in your country.
also will this crucial ssd 240 gb(https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B07G3YNLJB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) be sufficient for this laptop and considering it's hard disk size 320 gb what sort of harddisk partions would you recommend?
How much hard drive space is being used in your current 320gb drive? That will determine what size drive you need. You really won't want to partition a drive that small. Just leave it the full drive.
also will Caddy be required if we plan to move new 240 GB SSD inplace of HardDisk and HardDisk in place of DVD- ROM , If yes then which model company would be compatible for the same laptop Lenovo G450 Model?
If you want to have existing hard drive and new SSD for total space then just get a bigger SSD. Don't mess with getting a caddy. I'm not even sure you can do that with your model.
So after all these upgradation do you feel Windows 10 Should run smoothly on this lenovo G450 Laptop model?
No guarantee but it should. If it don't, you can always go back to windows 7. If you upgraded from windows 7 to 10 then it might just need to have a fresh install of windows 10. Some upgrades just don't react well.

Which specific G450 is it? There were a few other systems launched with that model number even going back to C2D.

Otherwise it's just generic RAM at whatever speed/timings in this instance, which is what John is indicating.
HardDisk and HardDisk in place of DVD- ROM
Why not just get a larger SSD? The amount you would pay just to get the bracket to convert the DVD bay would make it easier to just buy a bigger SSD and not hassle with that mechanical anymore.

Regarding hard disk partition currently I was curious to know how much dedicated space should I provide to Windows 10 and rest of the space for my storage?

keeping Windows 10 in SSD let's say it has 240 GB capacity and windows 10 occupies around 33 GB can we partition SSD card as well apart from partitioning Main Hard disk which is of 320 GB i mean i am not sure what could be the best memory management to avoid slowness and smoothly working for Windows 10 here with respect to Hard Disk and SSD partitioning kindly advise.

should I partition SSD or Hard disk. If SSD then how much partion space for SSD for 240 GB

and if i should partition Hard disk again then how much should i dedicate to Windows 10 itself?

Thanks much ....

here is the details for this Lenovo G450 model specification:-

But why do you think 240 GB SSD is too less whereas I was assuming it is more than what I could need ever?

I don't use DVD ROM currently so it is useless for me currently so i think In place of DVD ROM we can fix Main Hard Disk.

And unsure whether Caddy would be required at all or not here?

Thanks much...

I wouldn't partition a drive that small. I don't partition a drive if its under 500gb.

Bro that is a ddr2 laptop. I still have one, they have corner cases, but I wouldn't put any money into it. DDR3 won't fit in that socket. At It is a socket P one though so you could upgrade the CPU pretty inexpensively if you wanted to.

How much is the caddy to put a drive in that slot? Mechanical drive are also prone to failure from physical movement. For the same price or probably less it would be easy to get a 500 GB or larger drive, have a similar capacity, but have everything on a faster drive that doesn't damage due to movement, and still also be able to use optical drive.

Around here it's not challenging to find sandy bridge era laptops for $30-40 which would be a substantial upgrade. C2D was pretty good for the time, but it has some obvious limitations for its age. We use ours (MX6959, T7200 w/ 2x2GB Hyperx 667 4-4-4 RAM) just as a media player.
But Crucial recommends latest RAM upgrade for this Lenovo G450 Laptop model and here is the link :-
Crucial recommendation:-
for the same how can you say so that this recommendation will not fit in this Lenovo G450 Laptop model?

Will 240 GB SSD not be sufficient apart from 320 GB Main hard disk for this laptop considering Windows 10 or it would best work for Windows 7 ?

Thanks much...

So could someone please let me know :-

1. which model of Caddy would be best match for Lenovo G450 Laptop model considering I am planning to place 240 GB Crucial SSD and would replace CD ROM with harddisk(320 GB) and planning to replace it's existing 2GB and 1 GB DDR3 RAMs(533 MHz) of Micron Technologies with Two Crucial 4GB DDR3L SODIMM 1600 MHz(https://www.crucial.in/memory/ddr3/ct51264bf160b/ct5297800) RAMs. Would there be any other device or software driver required to configure Caddy for my harddisk?

2.) What should be my ideal configuration to achieve best speed for Windows 10 for above configuration? I mean Should I keep news Windows 10 in SSD or in Hard disk and How much partitions should I have and how much free space should i keep in particular drive of SSD or Hard disk where I am planning to get Windows 10 installed?

Thanks much...

Just get a 1 tb ssd and be done with it. No sense in getting a caddy to use a slow mechanical drive. If you really want to partition the 1tb ssd then go 250 or so for os and updates. And then the balance for personal data. But honestly you don't have to partition it at all. You definitely want windows 10 on an ssd.

1. But this 1 TB SSD (https://www.amazon.in/dp/B07YD579WM/ref=twister_B08GMRWVVQ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1) is much higher in price than this 240 GB SSD(https://www.amazon.in/dp/B07G3YNLJB/ref=twister_B08GMRWVVQ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1)

2. Also If I don't partition this 240 GB which currently I am planning to partition it in 120 GB each one for Windows 10 and rest for Data and other software etc. then If system crashes due to unforeseen issues then apart from OS all the data stored on this SSD would be lost then it could be worse planning in such a way.

3. Also as advertised by Crucial these two such 4GB RAMs ( as on it's website link it's saying 8GB is compatible with Lenovo G450 Laptop model) would be compatible with this Lenovo G450 Laptop model(https://www.crucial.in/memory/ddr3/ct51264bf160b/ct5297800)
But My doubt is that If I buy this 240 GB SSD card then why do I need to buy additionally these two RAMs to speed up my laptop for Windows 10 would SSD card alone not be sufficient to make it work smoothly for Windows 10 here for my Lenovo G450 Laptop model?

4. Which Caddy would be better out of these two 1stone (https://www.amazon.in/Storite-Upgraded-2nd-9-5mm-Universal/dp/B08KJ9XY2C/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=387O6MTZGM3DY&dchild=1&keywords=Caddy+for+Lenovo+G450+Laptop+model&qid=1635315951&rnid=1318475031&sprefix=caddy+for+lenovo+g450+laptop+model,aps,481&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExVThESldIRFQyMVBaJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMDE5MTkxOVpZNUFYSldKTVFEJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTAxMTE3NjgySjBOSkpPOVRBSklXJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfYXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==) or secondone :-(https://www.amazon.in/Optical-Drive-Caddy-Universal-9-5mm/dp/B07W14CHV8/ref=sr_1_3?crid=387O6MTZGM3DY&dchild=1&keywords=Caddy+for+Lenovo+G450+Laptop+model&qid=1635315951&rnid=1318475031&smid=A2PR1QOUMSBFUS&sprefix=caddy+for+lenovo+g450+laptop+model,aps,481&sr=8-3)

However Reviews are better for second Caddy but firstone is Made of aluminium alloy, great for heat dissipation which is mentioned as special feature for this Caddy however it is heavier by 10 gm than the second Caddy.

Or Experts on this forum would like to suggest any other best Caddy compatible with Lenovo G450 Laptop model here apart from these two.

Thanks much....

What about a 500GB SSD? They are pretty darn cheap these days. I would not mess with a mechanical drive if at all possible. You're putting way too much thought into a caddy if you do really want to go that route. It's a box you put a drive in, doesn't really matter.

Jumping to 8GB of RAM is definitely worthwhile if you want to get much more longevity out of this machine, although Windows 10 is tolerable on 4GB last I tried it. SSD will make more of a noticeable difference.

500 GB (https://www.amazon.in/dp/B077SQ8J1V/ref=twister_B08GMRWVVQ) is too costly more than twice the cost of 240 GB.

I would not have much given much thought on Caddy but as firstone is Made of aluminium alloy, great for heat dissipation which is mentioned as special feature for this Caddy however it is heavier by 10 gm than the second Caddy so was just worried whichone would be better considering the safety of motherboard and other internal hardware and circuit and chips etc. and overall compatibility with Lenovo G450 Laptop model in case I plan any of these two Caddy.

So How about this combination would be considering installing of Windows 10 Operating system on 240 GB SSD Card within this Lenovo G450 Laptop model :- 1) Partition 240 GB SSD Card ( the same Crucial Card for which I mentioned the link address in my last post) in two equal parts(120 GB Each) in one part just dedicate for Windows 10 and other equal part for other software and data etc.

2). Put these two 4GB Crucial RAMs ( for which I mentioned links in my previous post) by replacing existing 2GB and 1 GB RAMs.

3) Use existing 320 GB Hard disk as an additional storage within Caddy by removing DVD ROM from my Lenovo G450 laptop as I rarely use this DVD ROM.

Thanks much....
