Koolertron security concerns?

I want to get a Koolertron keyboard to bind keys to MS Flight Simulator functions without giving same inputs as normal keyboard keys. I think this keyboard requires special software to program it. Is this devices' software secure? I hate using unfamiliar software that isn't available from Windows store to verify its safety. Anyone with experience with this?

I have not used this particular brand before. This is not a direct answer, but an alternative - my wife had a corsair keyboard with programmable macro keys. The nice thing was that they were hardware programmed, you push a button on the keyboard then the sequence you want to save.

Looking up Koolerton, they are Hong Kong based. Take that for what you will security wise

This corsair brand keyboard doesn't interfere with normal keyboard? I will be using normal keyboard as well. I'd like a keyboard that is a grid that I can label depending on function I bind to it.

It is a whole keyboard with 6 macro buttons. https://www.corsair.com/us/en/p/keyboards/ch-9206015-na/k55-rgb-gaming-keyboard-ch-9206015-na

If you are looking for a standalone macro pad, I think the usual suspects make something that could work but likely costs more. If you can tolerate a keybind, there are macro recording software options like https://www.tinytask.net/
I don't know what macro buttons are. I'm just looking for a simple maybe 8 by 4 key board all lined in a grid so I can potentially asign percentages of engine power or brake pressure in the absense of foot peddles when simulation of helicopter flight and other switch controls. I was considering a Stream Deck but the key press doesn't feel right.

The buttons are 6 keys to the left of the regular keyboard. They are labelled G1-G6. It looks like this. I think functionally it would be similar to what you were looking at, other than it also is a full keyboard.

Unknown if this still works, but it might be an option with the Koolertron - https://github.com/robws/koolertron
