it may be your video card, but it could be a number of things. try loggin on in safe mode and see if you have any hardware that is conflicting with one anther.

Could also be your system battery going bad, try replacing it, they last a max of 5 years.

do you know how many different pieces of hardware your motherboard itself consists of? it could be an incompatablility issue between 2 pieces of hardware which might be solved by simply getting the latest drivers for each. or maybe its due to falsely assigned IRQ's.

another thing that i just thought of that it could be is a heat issue. your processor overheating can cause your computer to freeze or even crash.

there are several things that could very easily cause the problems you are having. that's where troubleshooting comes in. you go through all the possible options and slowly narrow it down untill you find the problems source. that's why i made the suggestions that i did above. if it is a hardware problem your best bet is to log on in safe mode, which will allow you to analyze your hardware and there drivers without having to worry about it freezing up on you.

is your processor over clocked and what sort of fan/heatsink do you have on it? make sure that if there is a fan on the cpu that it is working properly.

im shure its not beacouse of the processor coz this motherboard and processor worked fine on a different PC

the temperature is very different from case to case. i really doubt that that is the problem, but it was just a thought and you never know.

There a number of things that could be causing your problem. completely disconnect your keyboard and mouse and reboot system, shut down completly, plug keyboard and mouse back in and start the computer, you should get a message that new devices have been found and windows will attempt to locate the device drivers for them. If sucessfull, your keyboard and mouse should be back on. If not try a different keyboard and see what happens. If still nothing then I would suspect a problem with your Win XP, try reinstalling over the existing O/S and restart, if that does not work, I would suspect a mobo malfunction and replace mobo or build new computer using whatever existing parts you can get out of the old computer.

1.PC with 300 megahertz or higher processor clock speed recommended; 233 MHz minimum required (single or dual processor system);* Intel Pentium/Celeron family, or AMD K6/Athlon/Duron family, or compatible processor recommended

2.128 megabytes (MB) of RAM or higher recommended (64 MB minimum supported; may limit performance and some features)

3.1.5 gigabytes (GB) of available hard disk space*

4.Super VGA (800 × 600) or higher-resolution video adapter and monitor

5.CD-ROM or DVD drive

6.Keyboard and Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device

If you meet these requirements and it still locks up, I would reinstall WinXP and make to it uses only the native drivers. If that doesn't work, begin troubleshooting your vid card/motherboard.

check your jumper settings on cd and hd drive. make also sure that your IDE cable is connected properly (master -> master, and slave to slave).

during startup both drives must be displayes on bios.

your note about "after disconnecting cd" your hd is not available displays an error.

make sure your BIOS detects both drives, even after disconnecting 1, the other must be detected otherwise cable or jumper settings are false. if so, you computer get stucked and slows down. plug and get your hd alone properly working then install your cd again. if your graphic card is defekt your system usually beeps 3 times at startup cuz of that error.

Sounds like a Video Card fault; check for any updates to the Card - I know that my old GeForce 2 had a critical update waiting on WindowsUpdate - before I downloaded that the bloody thing actually stopped the computer from working; it just switched it off randomly!

I know what the problem is?

How you doing,

I read your post and the only problem that is causing your computer to load slow and the mouse to move slow is your video card.

The video card doesn't match with the monitor refresh rate therefore it like causes system performance to run at low speeds, so just change your video card, thats all it is......

My first computer i built had a video card of 4mb which is around the range of yours now, and it use to do the same thing, but since i upgraped the video card everything is running normal...

And one more thing since you are running widows xp, you should atleast get a 32mb to 64mb above video card, cheap prices at starsurplus.com

Take Care :)
