Or do they? ;)

If you people are wondering, my Mini isn't NEARLY as stable as my old macs where. However, it's all software problems. Talk to any prior macintosh user and they'll tell you how bad OSX is. I need to try Mac OS 10 sometime as I heard it was much better. I know my old machines that had OS 8.1 were rock solid :p They...just couldn't do anything... Old 100MHz POS's

the only mac i ever got to use was my uncles old iMac, 500Mhz OS8.1, and yeh, it sucked, it couldnt do much either apart from crash.

I havent experienced any newer ones to say whether they are better or worse than older ones

MACS never crash! PC's with Windows on it ALWAYS DO!
But i prefer pc's anyway! Why? cuz i never had a mac.
Apparently the're better for graphic's designing and all. My sister wants to be a film maker, and she might get one.

im sorry, i really dont understand why everyones saying that, if you keep windows secure (properly secure) and updated to the last minute it does NOT crash.... People seem to have it stuck in their mind that it crashes every 5 mnutes, this i believe is due to the reusty days of 95/98/Me and to some extent still 2k. If your running one of those OS's then you deserve it to crash.

Anyway, most crashes are caused by the user, if your sitting there watching a blank desktop its not gonna crash, so how can you say IT crashed when it failed wehn YOU were controlling it....??? That gets me quite annoyed, windows is perfectly stable if you know how to use it and preserve it properly...

Agreed, I used to hate windows 98 it would crash on me every 10-20 minutes or so. Since ive been using XP i have never really had any issues when it comes to stability.

Windows 98 was actually a very good OS. Well, if you had SE, it is still one of the better ones from MS, by far better than ME...

XP has been farily good for me. If you get a good install of XP SP2, things usally work quite well. The last problem I had with my laptop was with firefox/java. However, I'm basically beta testing a new version of WebCT(ironically called WebCT Vista!) so it was probably what caused the lockup.

As for my mac, I actually have loads of problems with it. It tends to randomly slow down until I reboot, I've had programs just hang, I've had Finder to hang and not re-open...lots of problems. I know I"m fairly new to OSX, but it's by far worse than OS 8 or so... Talk to any previous mac user, and they'll tell you how good OS 10 was. OS X is unix based, right? Basically anything prior to the change was pretty good...

Oh yeah, and compatability. I got a copy of Premiere 6.5 to try on my mac. It works great untill you try to export -.- As many people know, Premiere 6.5(and probably lower) still works just fine on XP.

XP Pro has never crashed on me. The only problem I have is that Firefox won't save my settings, that's it.

Yes, Macs never crash, my dad's got an iMac G4, and he NEVER shuts it down (Never ever) and its still running like hell.
As an OS, I prefer Mac, but Windows has more programs and games for it...

intersting fact:

If you hold down the open apple and ctrl keys and repeatedly hit the restart button (backwards arrow) on a mac as fast as you can for near 5 minutes straight, the computer will start beeping a tune very similar to the zelda theme.

Don't ask me how I figured this out....
