new ram killed my machine

I have been using Geil Ram with no problems at all. I only had 512 so decided to upgradeto 1 gig. I got some new OCZ Gold 2x512 and installed. Nothing happened at all, no boot, no post, nothing. I reinstalled my Geil and it booted right up. After about a minute the screen froze and reboot would not post. I get 1 beep and the screen freezes at the spot that asks if I want to set up Raid. The keyboard and mouse do not respond at all. I have changed slots, used 1 stick at a time and reset cmos. All with no effect.
I need some help here, did the OCZ screw up my mobo or cpu? HEEEEELP!!

I also posted this question on another forum and the replies all thought the psu went south. Any comments?

It's possible that the PSU went bad. I've heard that Ultra isn't so great in the quality area and I only bought mine because of the rebate. It's also possible that your fried your mobo if you didn't ground yourself.

I don't know... You placed the new ram in and nothing and when you put the old in it booted although not for long. Seems like perhaps something besides the power supply to me. Perhaps you might want to reset the bios before changing that PSU.

Thanks all for the comments. I have reset Bios to all stock config and still nothing. I have reset all cables, reset cmos, removed and reinstalled vid crd.
Anyone think the Ram may be fried? Does the OCZ really take that much more power? Looks like a new psu is first change?

it could either be the powersupply may be dead or the ram may be faulty. if you have any powersupplies laying around hook one up to your computer and put the ocz ram in it and see if it will work. if not then we know its the ram thats faulty.

could it be that your motherboard isn't compatible with 3 sticks of ram? you are using 3 aren't you, the original geil then2 ocz, as in the manual for my motherboard it says it won't boot with 3 sticks installed, try using it with just 1 of the new, or all configurations

Have you ran memtest at all on any of the sticks? (could also be that one of the ports is broken)

Not able to run memtest, only able to access bios and no other. I did try to set start from floppy but no go. Also set to start from CD and also no go.
Thinking of ordering this psu would appreciate any comments.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817167012

that looks like a good powersupply but i would get one that has dual 12v rails much stronger. and are you sure that your motherboard supports 20 pin most support 24 pin connections.

Your problem just seems strange as everything worked fine before you opened it up and replaced the ram. The new ram is not enough to blow your PSU. Unless you crossed/shorted something out when you where in there I just don't know. You checked the connections to the Hard drive also? You made mention of "I get 1 beep and the screen freezes at the spot that asks if I want to set up Raid."... Did you already have an OS installed and all that good stuff? Do you even have a Raid array? This message alone makes me wonder if your Hard drive is buggard or OS installation.
