My gf is having problems with her desktop. In a browser everything is massive, sometimes you cant even read stuff. I have changed the text size to smallest but, it still didnt help. Also, when i try to change the resolution, it allows me to change it to something else, but the resolution of the screen doesnt actually change. Whats the deal?

hold down CTRL then use the scroll wheel on the mouse, up for smaller, down for larger

I have done that. Its at the smallest and its still massive.

right click the desktop, go to properties, settings, then advanced, then under general, make sure the DPI is at 96

Its set at 96. Could it be a virus or spyware forcing it to run at low res? I havent had the chance to check for spyware and viruses yet.

Make sure its aleast 24 or 32 bit color and 800X600 or above and the monitor is running 60 hertz or above

I've heard of virus's doing that... download a program called ewido... i forget the website but just google that and it should take you to it.

well it aint a prob with windows

it might be a virus(but its totally fixable) so scan your comp for anything and fix it then you have to fix the theme

Right Click on Desktop>Properties>Appearance

there should be a drop down menu too choose a theme. if you have any windows skinners, Windows blinds etc, youll have the one you downloaded in there. but it shoudl be on Windows XP, if not change it. if that dont work go to advanced button and you can manually change the size. but i cnat definatley say whats wrong with it with no screen shot

what type of video card is it?
possibly update the driver? if available.

how big is your monitor?

The video card is nothing special its some integrated dell card. And it was fine before. The monitor is about 17 or 18. Ill get a screenshot next time at her house.
