There has been heaps of competition between two major retailers known as Sony and Microsoft. Since the release of the XBOX 360 the world has gone a bit crazy about how good it is but which one is better, Playstation 3 or Xbox 360???? Whats your opinion?

It's really hard to decide because the 360 has a nice lead on Sony. The PS3 is supposed to be pretty powerful, but it'll be up to the developers to actually use that power. There's also been some news floating around that developers are worried about making games for the PS3 because it will cost much more money compared to the 360 and Wii. It's really hard to compare which is better because the PS3 hasn't been released yet(there's not even an official launch date yet). You'll need to think about how much money you can spend. 360 is $400 USD at most. The PS3 will be $600 USD at most(it may be even more expensive in the UK if Sony still plans to sell the over priced premium PS3 only).

Here we go again:

1. PS3 is gonna be very expensive, the console and the games will be quite pricy, the top priced one will be the only model to play Blu-ray DVD's

2. You simply CANNOT BEAT Xbox live, online game play is the future. Xbox has a major major lead with online gameplay.

3. PS3 probably will have better graphics, but its a lot to sacrafice (higher price, worst online play, a never ending pit of money being thrown away)

4. If you are big on the Media Content, Xbox seamlessly integrates with a Windows XP computer. It makes sharing videos, music, and pictures very easy

5. Titles: PS3 does have some great titles, but think about Gears of War and HALO 3. They will be simply amazing

6. The tilt sensor controllers, great idea but needs a lot of work. I dont know about everyone else, but when I play video games I am not looking for a workout. I dont want to be standing up throwing my controller around the room

So I gave both consoles their credit, but it goes to the 360. I own it and I could not be happier.

Agreed on all points. And what does the PS3 do that the 360 already doesn't? Aside from games.

Ummm. I think the best would be the tilt sensor controllers. Maybe the ability to play Blu-Ray DVD's.

I know you are in favor of 360 and so am I so I'm not arguing w/you, just clearing up a few things.

1. The wii has tilt sensor control, and much more well implemented. The controller is designed to use it, while the PS3 is just trying to imitate it.

2. Blu-Ray is going to be crazy expensive. Although I guess it will be implemented compared to having to buy an HD-DVD drive for the 360, I've heard that games and movies are going for 70-80$. That really adds up and hurts the price.

Yea thats true. I want somebody to make all points for the PS3, just out of curiousity.

i vote 360 and my reasons are the same as bigsaucybob's, as for blu-rays most of the pre-orders for movies are around $35-$40. why spend that much on something your only going to watch one time and then put it on a shelf with the rest of your movies.

Wii. I dont care about either and I might not even get wii because why pay $200+ for a game system when I can upgrade my PC instead. If I had to choose one of those I would say xbox 360 I played one and I'm pretty mpressed by the graphics and there were a lot more interesting games at E3 for xbox 306 then there was for ps3. I don't look at the performance or how much power it has actually when I watched the press conference video I skipped over that part. All that matters to me is good games and a good controller doesn't hurt either :p .

i say ps3 because if you look at all the detales you will find it will actualy cost less. To get the 360 to the same spec as what comes standerd with the ps3 it actualy works out to be about £300 more, also i was reading on how blu-ray works on howstuffworks.com and they were explaning that because of how the disk is developed it would cost around the same as what a normal dvd costs to make, and how it has a larger storage compasity than a hd-dvd giving it the upper hand (blu-ray that is).
If you look into these you will find that even with issus of game development costs the ps3 will cost, in the long run, less, espesualy with the way technology is going. to put it into persective only 5 or 6 years ago a 60gb hdd was the bigest you could, now thats the base spec, it softwere development goes like that they will soon have to release Pioneer's 500gb disks

ftw? How 300 more? Adding Blu-Ray probably won't happen, but it has an external HD-DVD player, which is going to retail for I think ~100$. Then add in say, 150 for PS3 games when you buy it, and 75-90 more for each game later on, and your prices skyrocket.

heres how i see it

xbox360, nicest hardware for today's technology
ps3, new technology - advantages that the xbox360 can't touch, though visa versa in some cases, but think about it, 80gb game disks? thats insanity - so much detail taht can be put it

plus gta will come out for ps3 first i think and metal gear solid - and the x,y,z sensitive gyro controlers are gonna be sweet

go with ps3 though im bias

PS3 might have newer technology. Sony cannot touch the online play capabilites that Xbox has already developed, wats a game without online play?

And just to clarify, the Blu-Ray player only comes with the more expensive version. Not the low end model.

well you can't quite say that the online capability will be bad - despite how bad it was for ps2 - i thought i heard somewhere that the ps3 was going to do something almost exactly like live, but cut the monthly costs, though i could be insane

No, I wouldnt be surprised. I am just saying that Sony has a lot of catching up to do considering how far behind they were if we compare PS2 and original Xbox live for the Xbox.
