New Camera

I am going to be purchasing a new camera very soon (hopefully today or tomorrow). I've been looking around and based on reviews and features, I found the Cannon A620 to be a very nice choice in that price range ($220). I am going to be buying it through Newegg, since they have some of the best deals from what I found, and I know from experience that they have good service and have a terrific return policy.

Here's the link to it: http://www.newegg.com/product/Product.asp?item=N82E16830120179

I am really attracted to it from its high 7.1MP resolution, 4x Optical Zoom, 640x480 @ 30fps video recording, superior battery life (500 shots per charge), and lots of manual controls.

Does anyone have opinions on it?

I think its a very nice camera with nice features and it also looks good. I have a Kodak EasyShare z760 and i love it and only got it for $200. Good luck on the purchase and hope u enjoy it ;)

trust me you will love the battery life, and the 7.1mp the zoom isnt extreme but you are paying only 220 so that seems like a good deal

Same reasons I got the Olympus 7.1 from OfficeMax on sale for $199.00 and it is great. I'm sure you will enjoy using it.
I posted several images at image shack but blew it. The board I use to go to allow us to just post and upload anything into the post.
Guess I need more time to figure things out.
Or someone to offer a welcome and guide me on about how to get the link from image shack instead of the pix. But the welcome would be enough.
Maybe this is it.

Thanks for the opinions guys!

I went to Circuit City and they had a similar camera, except the lower end model (for $280 BTW  ). I played around with the settings and such and there are alot of manual controls, I just need to figure out how to use it correctly :)

And also, for $220 on newegg I get the camera and a free 1GB SD card.

Yeah, SD cards are incredibly cheap now..., it's great!

And great choice on camera, the 4x optical on that size of camera is nice. I got the Kodak Z730 for about $150, but that has 5MP...

I got my camera yesterday, and it's excellent! I love all the features it has, and hopefully i'll be able to use the manual controls once I understand them better.

Heres a closeup I took with my camera this afternoon:

i would have gone with the p850 from kodak. 239 at geeks.com not the 7.1 mp but not like you'll be printing out posters anyway.

It does look really nice, but as you said it's more expensive, only 5MP. And the screen cant be closed, and it cant do burst rate movies, as well as a few things. Although the optical zoom does look amazing, i'm very happy with the choice I made.

I can't find anything that bad about it, as I keep using it I find out better things. It takes excellent photos, tons of features, and it allows you to have everything automatic for novice users, or customize virtually everything for professional users.

If I had to say something bad about it, I would say that the shutter is a bit slow, and it takes about 1/2 sec. from when you press the button for it to take.
