No as far as I know. Every "pocket pc" (PDA) has a battery that you charge and one you don't. The one you do not charge stores data when the other one is dead.

the back up battery lasts about thirty minutes, you can lose your data on the pda unless it is stored on a secure card this is if the battery runs out

Newer PPC devices have non-volatile memory... I'm fairly sure this applies to all Windows Mobile 5 devices.

I was on a rather huge PDA project recently, and none of them had backup batteries. Though, for good measure, you could always run some backup and save it on an expansion card.

My LifeDrive doesnt loose any info, even if its off for a century. It has a hard drive and thats the reason why you dont loose the data.

They don't have backup batteries because they don't need them...

Yes you can lose your data. I had this happened a couple times. Left it drained out and had to reput everything back in. However, if you hotsync or anything along those lines with your pc previously, you should be able to get some of them back if it happens.

no i think that some (or at least ones a year or so old especially the phone ones) do have a small backup battery because often you have to take out the battery to put thi sim in it. for example my dads 02 xda mini has a short half hour battery for this very reason.
