I am going to be building a new computer. My budget as of my right now is 1021.00 USD. Now can I build this computer with that much money? Here is the the specs i want to get
Processor: Intel Core 2 E6600
Motherboard: Asus P5W DH Deluxe
Ram: 2x 1GB not sure which brand they have that supports this much ram in 1 stick.
GPU: 1x 7950
HD: 1x WD Raptor 74 GB, 10.000 Rpm. Ill upgrade to another WD 10k RPM later..
Soundcard: I will upgrade to topline soundcard when i have the money.
PSU:700watts not sure what brand yet.
Windows XP 64bit edition: I will get this later when I have the money. right now i will use my current windows xp pro sp2.
THE MAX RAM I WILL BE GETING IS 8GB!!!! Games now support 1gb of ram. And i will be doing mostly gaming , burning and testing my pc speed. No I will not be upgrading to 8GB right away for now i will start with 2gb in 1 stick.

Why am I spending that much money for my pc? Well I dont want anything to slow me down in gaming. I will be playing a lot of games in the future.

Ok I am a student and make around 1200.00 a month i dont have bills to pay or anything. Why dont I just buy a new car instead? I have 1999 Oldsmobile Eighty Eight LS bought it 2 years ago. Thanks Friendly People.

Well without going around and getting exact prices....

The 7950 will run you about $550
The Core 2 E6600 is about $350
With your RAM you first said 2x1GB sticks and then later said 1x2GB stick. If you want 8GB's your going to need 1x2GB stick. That will run you about $200 for the cheapest stuff up to $300 for very good stuff. It could easily go to $400+ if you want.

So right there you have blown $1,100 to $1,200+.

You still need the 700watt PSU that I'll guess to be in the $180 range on up and the HD that will be about $180 as well. Also the motherboard which I'm not sure but will guess around $150ish???

So I'd say you can not get what you want for $1021USD.

To help cut down on money I would say forget the raptor hard drive and just get a very large HD at 7,000rpm. Forget about 8gb of ram, its a big excessive and just get 2x1GB setup that will cost less. That will allow you to either fill it with 4GB (with another 2x1GB set) or up to 6GB if you find money down the line to add 2x2GB. That shoudl be PLENTY! For a sound card look at the cheap 7.1 card that is listed on Newegg. For the price it can't be beat. And also look into alternative methods of getting ahold of that OS...there are plenty of ways ranging from legal to illegal.

Definately buy 2 RAM sticks because of dual channel, you won't need 8Gb for years, 2Gb will be enough for quite a while. Windows XP 64-bit isn't really necessary. WD Raptor's are overrated and the $/Gb price isn't very good.
