Hi, for about a week now my PC has been freezing up and the monitor goes very strange (Ill try to get a pic when it does it again). It also sometimes squeals if music is playing during it's sesure.

Next time it does it ill take a photo so you can see what im on about but until then, thanks!.

Does the screen go back to normal or no? It might be hardware problem cuz when i used to overclock my pc sometimes the screen will kinda look like that and then id just turn the pc off and it will be fine.

Could be a heat problem... Your VGA could be getting too hot to function. Have you checked your temps?

The temp rarely goes over 30C. I have taken the side of the case today and it seems to be happening less so maybe it is heat (25C atm). If it is the VGA I will just buy a new one, i've been lokking for a good excuse :p. Any other ideas though? I don't wanna shell out $200 and still have the same problem.
Thanks for your help!

Hmmmmm 30C seems very cool to have any problems at. Usually they would be at 80C - 90C when you start to see problems.

Why don't you buy a cheap PCI card for $30 and see if the problem remains? Atleast then you can rule out whether it is your VGA card.

Ok, well it is not the monitor, I replaced it with one of the 20 in my room:eek: and still had the same problem. I stuck an old VGA card in it and although the freeze ups are less frequent, they still happen. The only difference is the screen stays normal, ie no crazy line patterns.

Any Ideas?
Thanks, Abbott.

The symptoms seem to suggest a problem with your graphics card but i don't want to jump to a conclusion. You shud try and narrow it down so that you know whether it is a hardware or a software issue, then go from there.

Well, replacing the Graphics Card did help, but the problem still happens. So I think it may have been a problem with it but also with something else. I was thinking maybe the MoBo because the sound goes too.

Wow, I ran the Cleaner and it found 1.4 gig of CRAP! (Even if 700 meg was the Recycle bin). Well it has not crashed since so we will see how it goes. Thanks!
