Fan controlling not working

I just attached a case fan I've been using for a while to the SFAN1 connector in hopes of being able to adjust the speed. But alas, when trying to adjust it in Speedfan it doesn't react to the changes I make, however it does register the RPM of the fan. Anybody know any other software that I could try to use to control the fan speed, as I didn't find any others myself?

Speedfan seems to have gotten more overclocking option
and totally forgot about controlling fans of newer motherboards.

Unless you want to use a hardware fan controller unit, you
should take a look at your motherboard BIOS options.
Possibly, see if there is a newer BIOS version that might help.

It's not uncommon for speed fan not to support certain machines. Speedfan doesn't support my laptop, dad's laptop, my desktop, my previous desktop, and many of my other computers. However, I do know most of them have/had an option to control the fan speeds.

Check in your bios. Usally there's a more primative method of controlling them there.
