hi, here i am asking for some ideas about LCD and Plasma Tvs

LCD TVs are bit more expensive than Plasma Tvs, and I am not so sure on what to get.

I am thinking of 42' LG or Samsung TV,

well, what would be the major difference between LCD and Plasma,
(my parents think we should buy a LCD)

can somebody explain to me? thanks

I would recommend a 42" DLP over a low-end plasma, since usually they are only 480i resolution, where as the 42" DLP can be 720P or 1080i. They are also significantly cheaper.

Also, don't get LCD and LCD RP mixed up.

Thats a nice TV. We just got a 42" Samsung 720P DLP for our basement, and it's amazing, much better then the old RP TV's.

But obviously LCD will be better, however for the price, that Plasma looks very good.

Do a little read-up on cnet.com on the differences and advantages of Plasma versus LCD, that's one of the best and quickest ways to read-up on the specs of both varieties of TVs.

i did read some of those articles or facts, but then, i am like have no idea at all.
i'd rather follow the advice of ones with experience... well, thanks though, i will read it... and hope i can actually learn the difference...
(i don't think i will become an expert by doing so)

Ok, well from my personal research and experience I bought a 32" Sony XBR LCD TV. Although it might be a little more costly than the other brands, the XBR line is definitely cutting-edge and has a lot less of the "problems" that most LCD's have. (a light halo around the edge of the screen, for instance...) However, the Samsung and LG's would also be very good alternatives. Definitely my top 3.
