Computer will not boot up...

So I recently bought parts to build my first computer...
AMD 64 3000+
Gigabyte K8NS Pro
160GB Samung 7200 HD
Antec SLK3700-BQE
1GB PC-3200 Geil DDRAM
dvd rom
dvd +/- rw
and
ATI AIW 9700 Pro

Now i put it all together and i'm very certain i did it correctly. So i tried to turn it on....nothing happened. So i pushed the power button again, nothing happened. I then changed the screws holding in the mobo and reconnected everything, pressed power, nothing happened, pressed it again it booted up. So I installed XP Professional and some drivers and all that good stuff. I turned it off and then went back later to turn it back on and it would not boot up at all. The CPU fan and the system fan would spin for a second and then stop, the RAM LED's would also stay lit. I took out the RAM, it didnt boot. Took out the ATI AIW & the Ram...it booted up and started beeping. So i put the RAM back in, left the AIW out and it booted up...but i couldnt see anything seeing as how my video card was out. so i sent it back to newegg for rma repair and i got it back today. I installed it....and the same frickin thing happens!!!! I do not understand why it will not start! Anyone who can help me or have any ideas why this is happening??

Thanks you!

Did you use arctic silver when you put the processor on the MB.
I had similar problems a while back when A processor had overheated due to a defective heatsink/fan. The box would power up for a 1-2 sec then die. also since you received the MB back did you verify the CLEAR CMOS jumper was not set in the CLEAR CMOS configuration because if it is thats about the exact thing that will happen.

i never sent the mobo back, i sent the 9700 Pro back
and my PSU is 350W

im beginning to think that i may not have enough power to run everything...

I would remove all non essential devices. DVD-RW /DVDROm and if your ram is in 2 512MB sticks i would remove one of them as well. just to rule out possibility of it being a low power problem.

Also check out this site. http://takaman.jp/D/?english it has a Power calculator.

check ur connection
I remember like few month ago, this also happen to me, it start beeping, but never appear a black screen after win xp installed, just check wiring, and see if everything connect throughly, it's better to check it again than having toruble looking for the solution, check if ur MB and other stuff compatible in the circuit

edit: how much do u pay for all that, it's sound like a good setup

someone else i was talkiing to suggested i fried the mobo....i really dont think thats the case, but is it possible? and the crappy gigabyte tech support doesnt help

It is possible but very unlikely.

Worst case I would say it would be the processor that is fried.

Have you tried resetting the BIOS. and double check those jumper settings for Clear CMOS. Also did you try removing non essential devices.

The only time that I have seen this issue was when i Really fried a Processor and when the clear CMOS jumper was set to clear.

most other issues unless it is power/motherboard will atleast give you some kind of post beep errors.

but when i take out the video card, it boots up fine, theres just one longer beep at the beginning. its not the power supply either, cuz i bought i 400W just to be sure and it did the same thing...so im taking it into this place called INET and seeing if they can get it working.

there could be an issue with the AGP slot on the MB. if the circuitry is faulty, it may trigger something when the card is put in place. if none of the above ideas help, RMA the MB.

- You are probably right in thinking the 350W PSU isnt enough juice for the A64 and the AIW. I'd reccomend a 400W+ PSU by a reputable maker (Thermaltake, Entec, Vantec etc)

- Another possibility is that something may be shorting out between your mobo and your case: you might try to boot up with the mobo and stuff not inside the case.

Possible yes but as others have said, highly unlikely.

Very true, some motherboards (and their chipsets) are very picky as to the voltage of the AGP card; something worth looking into
