Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16813128011

INTEL

dual core no doubt. go with the intel... every penny you spend on the 6600 is worth it.. what about going with the 6300 or 6400 with just a LITTLE BIT of over clocking? I know you said you didn't want to... but just an option to save a few bucks..

I agree with the 6400 as well. I just bought one and the performance is incredible. Even against that AMD processor, would he even need to overclock it to compete with it? It should run faster (for less money) right out of the box I think.

yes it would... he wants a 6600, so just suggesting an over clocked 6400 or 6300 would give some 6600 speed.. whichever way you decide to go, its a good investment. the cost of the product is outrageously cheap for the performance it brings.

The x2 5200 is dual core...hence the "x2"...as in "times 2"....

But I agree, go for the C2D. You also might want to look into a different mobo, like Asus....the one you have is fine, but if you're going to be spending $250 on a mobo, might as well make it an Asus. :)

Thanks for everyones input, Intel all the way was in the back of my mind. I just needed a little push... The reason Im not overclocking it is because I dont know how to lol (what a noob), I have to research a lil more about that... This forum has been really helpfull... Thanks again! more suggestions are welcome if you have them! Thanks again!

at the end of the day you dont have to overclock, the system will be more than fast enough at stock speeds :)
