camera doesn't like SD Card

I have a Traveller DC6300 camera bought from Aldi, a UK retailer, and today bought a 1Gig SD Card - Peak flash card. But when I put the card in the camera screen displays "this card cannot be used". Camera manual says it doesn't support MMC cards but the Peak card doesn't seem to be a MMC - at least it doesn't say it is. Anyone any ideas please??? :)

MMC cards are slightly different than SD. They are a little more slim and have less connectors on them.

Bad picture I found, but it works well enough...

Anyway, does the card work in anything else? Can you read it on your computer with say a card reader? Have you tried to format it in the computer or in the camera(though I doubt you'll get that option) How about the camera's compatability? Can it use a 1GB card?

I am 99.9% positive that they are MMC adaptors, give me a few days I can give you a link or whatnot.

Hi, mate.

I don't have anything else to try it in so I have asked a friend to try it in his ipak today so that might tell me something. It does say SD Card on it and it does look more like the picture of the SD Card.

There is nothing in the camera to suggest it can't accept a 1GB card that I have found but I'll check again anyway.

Thanks for your help.

Hello, theboy.

Thanks for your reply although I'm not quite sure what you mean by MMC adaptor? Could you elaborate for a novice please?

Many thanks.

SD Card problems

I just downloaded the user manual from http://h8349.serverkompetenz.net/htdocs_traveler/uk/front_content.php?idcat=70

On page number 8, it states "Recording medium - External memory supports SD card up to 512MB." which the camera cannot handle the 1GB card.

Thanks, Scrat.

I few choice words spring to mind mainly relating to my stupidity and the "there's one born every minute" remark!! Which clearly applies to me.

I couldn't see anything when I looked but either my book is different or more likely I just missed it.

Anyway thanks for the info. and help.

Anyone want a cheap 1GB SD Card?:)

Where'd you buy it, and did you keep receipt/packaging? I know that Best Buy and Wal-Mart and a few other places will take it back... otherwise they go for $5-$20 on ebay.

Don't think they'll take it back, friend, after all the product works OK just down to my stupidity really. Anyway it was packed like lots of things are in a tough plastic container that you need a chainsaw to get into. So now it ain't so pristine!

I have learned a lesson. It's an ill wind............:)
