This will seem a stupid question to you experts but i was wondering if it is possible hook av inputs into your monitor so you could play video games from a console on your computer like it was a TV?

You could do that, but it isn't a simple task. If your monitor has RGB input (mine has  ) and the AV signal comes from an euroscart plug with enabled R, G, B outputs then all you need is some cables.
But usually monitors have only D-Sub or DVI connectors, so in this case you'll need a video capture card or a TV/Video to VGA converter.

Wouldn't it be better to use a TV? i mean; it's larger, it [probably] has componite or s-vidoe jacks on it, and you can be more confortable playing on your TV compareing it to sitting in a computer chair or a normal chair. but......i guess i don't really care what you do. haha :p

im not allowed to play video games durring the week so if my video games were in my room my parents wouldnt kno if i was playing. and i wouldnt have to share tv time with other members of the house. (when i say share, i mean i wait forever and never actually get to play my video games)

I think it would also work if you added a TV tuner or video card with video inputs. For audio you'll have to get an RCA to 1/8" adapter and plug it into the line in or mic jack.
