Suddenly my speakers and headphones don't wanna work stereo.
I checked the balance everywhere I can check and it's in the middle.
What could that be ?

Yea, I said with both the speakers and headphones, I connect the headphones directly to the Mobo.

I've seen this happen several times... try messing with where they jack into your PC. Wiggle it around a bit... only one part of the plug is coming into contact with the jack.

I tried everything, won't work.
I don't know what's wrong!!! is it the Mobo ?
Do I have to buy a sound card ?

I switched to windows Vista and the same problem still exists.
I'm feeling it's a hardware problem now !

Do you only have the phone jack on the back of the PC or do you have one on the front too? do either of them work?

Is the phone jack mounted on the M/B, or connected to M/B via a cable? or is it on a sound card?
Have you checked these connections?

I have built in sound in my Mobo and I connect directly to it.
I tried the 3 speakers directly.

It's possible that you have just bent or worn one of the tongues in the phono socket. normally there should be 3 of them. Left, Right & Common.

Do you have a secondary output on your M/B to connect the front panel audio connectors? If you do, connect it and try using the front panel connector.

Otherwise, see if there is anyway you can remove the cover to the phono socket on the M/B and bend the tongue back out.

I just made sure that it's a hardware problem, coz my speakers worked great on other systems.
I don't wanna mess it up, so what is safe that I can do about this?

If you don't have front panel audio connectors, getting a sound card should fix it. From the sound of it, it's the physical jack that is broken. If you do have a front panel audio connector, plug in your speakers/headphones there.

I don't have a front panel, And I don't wanna buy a new sound card.
I never used a front panel before, Where do you connect it in the mobo ?
If not in the broken jack, the I could get one. Would be cheaper than another sound card !

EDIT: something weird happened right now the sound came back, I didn't touch the computer!!!
Oh wait... it keeps coming and going ..... !!!
What's up with thaT?
Power problem ?

Well supposing you did have a front panel jack for sound...it should have a cable hanging off the back of it in the case with a 2x5pin header connector on the end...or a bunch of single pin headers. This plugs into a Header socket/pins on the M/B which should be labeled something like "F_AUDIO"...refer to your M/B manual for exact spot.

Out of curiosity...which Case do you have?

If it is a Jack thats broken...you should be able to replace it provided you can find a matching one(basic ones cost about $2) and if you know how to use a Soldering Iron.

Could still be a problem with the Jack itself, however it could also suggest a problem with the Audio Hardware section on the MB.
