Problem in Vista - speakers wont work

Hello
I have a pair of USB speakers - USB plug gives them power and then connects to the audio input jack on motherboard.

They work fine with XP but when i run vista - the sound icon with a red cross comes up in the task bar and i can not hear anything.

Any help ??

It sounds like you have it on mute. Double click on the sound icon and see if you can unmute them.

Gotta hit up your sound card maker for Vista drivers... good luck on that score. If it's too old, there might not be any.

Do you have any play old earphones that you can plugin to check the sound port?

nah....its not USB sound card he's talking about, its a set of Powered speakers that instead of having a plug-pack for power...it gets it from the USB socket.
