Ok heres the scenario , I need to open the command prompt but Run has been taken off the start menu. There is no task manager and No right clicking anywhere in the desktop.......
any Ideas on how to get a command prompt open?
I will need to open it fairly quickly also....

Open...
Start->Programs->Accessories->Notepad

type in...
cmd

Click...
File->Save As

Select a place to save it to on your computer....desktop is best.
Name the file cmd.bat
Choose all files from the "Save as type" drop-down box.
Click 'Save'

Now double-click the file on your desktop called cmd.bat

ok...right-click on the file and select "Edit"
then change the text to be...
CD\
cmd

then click the close button in the top right corner of the window.

Okay, I did it just as u said but it did the same thing but this time it repeated cmd then on the next one cd/ and did that continuously..
so I decided to try and put just "cd/"
but that opens and just closes it

cmd will repeat

cmd/ will repeat

cmd will repeat
cd/

cd/ opens prompt and closes immediately

and I doubted cd/ cmd would work and it didnt it closed immediately also

Hmm... it works for me every time on my XPpro system. What O/S are you using?

Also, do you have a "Windows key" on the keyboard?..if so try holding it down and pressing the R key, this should open the "RUN" window in which you can then enter CMD.

Its XPpro
but I figured out the problem....

The computer has a security guard thing enabled and wont allow any type of program to run unless its on the its list thing thats set up by the administrator.

but thanks alot though I got alot of helpful info and I think I can do something with it now
