those cant be the specs of your computer. atleast not some of those on there. Your harddrive is not 20-60GB its either 20 or 60 or somewhere in between. and Your monitor cant be both 15 and 17"

This is what i think..i hope im right. Im not an expert so dont bank on just my opinion. wait for others to affirm.

Here's what I would do, especially when a customer calls me and tells me they have a unit, but not certain what it is, but know they need an upgrade.

First, find the serial number and call HP/Compaq. Give them the number, and part # if they ask... anything from the unit that would help them. Tell him you like to know what the specs are on the machine, and what exactly you want to use the computer for. They will tell you everything. They're very good at helping you with this sort of thing.

They can advise if memory is upgradeable, the CPU, the HDD, etc. To pass you along until you can afford the PC you want to really use.

It's really the easiest way to determine what to do. They can easily tell you if the applications/software you want to use the system for will be compatible for it. Especially the games.

Good luck!

Unfortunately that PC won't be able to photoshop, play WoW or day of defeat. However, the downloading might not be an issue, I don't know. Try some less demanding programs instead of Photoshop.

To be honest I don't even think it's worth upgrading it, it'll be a lot of money spend to get a computer that will still be behind, you'd be a lot better off saving and then buying a newer machine.

Well, You can upgrade the RAM and the CPU (what speed is the CPU?)

THe graphics card also, but all of this will be more money and even then the computer won't be great.

Upgrading that computer "to the max" like you said, or at least a lot, would not make sense, since you could spend that money towards part of, or even (most likely) a full new machine. Think about it.

Well it's like I said this computer was handed down to me for free, so I'm just trying to make the best out of it and I dont have the money to go purchase a new a computer.

To be honest, Photoshop will bring that computer down to its knees real fast. You might want to try a less intensive photo program like Picasa2 or something similar. Yes Photoshop is the best....but your computer isn't. Also, machine was never built for modern games. Any money put into upgrading would best be used in buying a new computer. I'm talking you will need new motherboard, CPU, graphics card, more ram, bigger hard drive just to mention a few of the items that aren't up to the tasks that you want to do with it.
