Real Kbps, vs. Real Kbps

KBPS stand for Kilobyters Per Second correct?

When someone buys an internet subscription from their ISP, their ISP usually advertises a speed. When we bought out internet connection, I think we bought the 768Kbps download speed, and 128Kbps upload.

However, when I run a speedtest (www.speakeasy.net/speedtest), once it's completed, it tells me about my speed (that I purchased) and then in parentheses something like 278Kbps download speed, and 68Kbps upload speed.

I thought I purchased the 768Kbps, and the 128Kbps? It says that's what I got, but then in parentheses it says a second number. What is this speed?

You're looking at that part right? kbps is kilobits per second while KBps (or KB/s) is kilobytes per second. Both numbers indicate the same speed. There's 8 bits in a byte.
