Is this REALLY 'top of the range'

I recently purchased a power supply from SCAN. It's a Hiper HPU-4s525.
The specs for it can be found here: http://www.hipergroup.com/English/products/hpu-4s525.html

They claim that it is 'top of the range'. Is this really a valid claim or just exaggeration? I only ask because i'm looking towardsthe future and possible upgrades (Dual-core, SLI, DX10 etc.) I would like to know if this PSU will be good enough for such components or whether i just made a poor choice :(

the stats look pretty good on it. It does have Dual 12V rails which is good for SLI upgrading and overclocking capabilities. It looks decent in my opinion, but then again, what do i know......

EDIT: for being "top of the range" as in "top of the line", umm....its par with others in its wattage range...but I don't think its Top of the line...

With most components, I like to stick to main stream brands with good product history and guarantees behind them. Brands like Enermax, Rosewill, Corsair, Thermaltake, Etc. Its best to avoid non-brand name computer produces. Especially when they spell 'Hyper' wrong.

As seen on the site, they simply say it is their top of the range PSU. By no way is that on par with the top of the line psu's, but it seems to be a good midrange PSU.

Hiper is actually a more trusted name for PSUs. Please do some research. It should be good, but more recent top of the line PSUs have quad rails or more.

Actually, what I would consider the best PSUs are single rail.

I would have thought the wattage rating of that PSU would be enough to tell you - a 525W PSU is at best midrange, and certainly not appropriate for SLI'd high end cards, such as 8800s or X2900s, and with only +12V@30A, that one is just barely sufficient for a single 8800GTX.

Hiper's best PSUs are 700W+, and based on server grade Andyson units. Definitely good PSUs, but still not 'top of the range'.

That's ok then. I don't think i'll be getting one of those for a long time. Maybe a 8600GT when I get Vista but i'm pretty sure that this PSU will be ample. What i find ironic is that a lot of guys have stated that it is not a good idea to do SLI. But Hiper have put a huge sticker on the side saying "Designed for SLI". Yeah, SLI with a couple of 6800GTs maybe, but i think that it's a poor claim to make.
