Look somewhere else cuz that shop SUCKS, like ebuyer
While Maplin doesn't suck it certainly isn't my first choice for computer components, I found this on eBuyer and the 12v rails (Which are important) are very good for the price and for Antec quality you can't beat it:

thanks for your suggestion maplin is a very good store and i know if i have problems they will be more than willing to help and i will be able to return it i just prefer going to a local shop than off the internet
in a power supply what am i looking at just the wattage ? would 400 watts be enough id go with your suggestion GCR just i want it to be black and look abit better
one more question is it possible to remove the casing off the psu and just have it in with no case and maybe add some crazy lights or something to make it look better

I can't see your sig, list the components or put it back up!
I'm not a modder but I'm not sure that you can take the case off your PSU.. it might be dangerous but even if not it would be messy. I know there are some PSU's out there that have a window with led's or something similar, i'd rather get that if you really wanted something flashy.

the components are ... a e6600 dual core processor
a 7900GS gpu (i think)
and 2 gig ram i cant remember really
i shouldnt need more than a 500 watt power supply though should i
and i know you can buy then with windows and lights and stuff in but they seem to be an extra 40 50 kwid just coz they look good

Don't just focus on wattage. You will want good amps on the 12v rails or expect an unstable power flow throughout the system. 20A or above is good.
Also you will want a brandname power supply.. don't go for the cheap ones. Buy a cheap power supply, and you can kiss your computer good bye because if it dies, it will take your whole computer with it.
Popular brand name power supplies are Antec, Enermax, OCZ etc. I'd look for something above 500W.

I personally would rather get the Antec Trio 650 watt; those have very high quality construction for a Tier 2 unit! they can be bought for around $100.00 other comparable units in that class are $140.00
if you really want to squeeze the lemon Antec Trio 550 watt can be bought for about $65.00
