Sound Card and Speakers.

Alright I was told by someone that I needed a sound card to take the "overhead" off of my mobo, so I need someone to suggest me a sound card.

Also I was thinking about getting a set of nice speakers, prefferably surround sound, so if anyone could list a good set of speakers that come with a sub that would be good.

I'm using the logitech x550 (i think that's what they're called) surround sound speakers, and if i had to do it over again, i'd find speakers that have wireless rear speakers.

It's really a nuisance having to run wires around my bedroom for the surround sound speakers, and because of that i'm using a $400 surround sound setup with only 3 of the 5 speakers attatched, because i hate the speaker wires so much......

Something to consider when you're choosing. Or just consider a really nice 2 or 2.1 setup (the bose are REALLY nice, and so are the logitechs) which actually sound really impressive. If i had to do it over, i might take a really nice 2-speaker setup instead of surround sound.

Bose are the best speaker makers ever, my dad has bose speakers and they're amazing the quality is so nice and there is never any distortion!
If money wasnt a problem then go for bose but they are expensive :(

Creative sound cards are the ones to go for X-fi and for my setup I got an Arcam amplifier and B&W speakers around £1700 worth of sound for the PC the amp has 6 imputs so the freeview and DVD player get to use it too.

I agree.. Creative X-Fi is the way to go. There are many versions though. If you are a gamer, i'd recommend Creative X-Fi Fataility. If not, X-Fi Platinum is a good choice. However, if you don't want the drive bay which comes with those versions, go with an X-Fi Extreme Music.

Lastly, you could go for the most expensive one which is the X-Fi Elite Pro.
