Hello everyone! :)

Some of my programs are not listed in the Add/Remove Programs list. Does anyone know why? However, I'm not having any problem to run those missing programs.
For your information, I installed all of the missing programs in my local disk C.

First you need a Welcome to the Computer Forum! http://www.computerforum.com/70672-official-welcome-thread.html and the usual reminder to new members to review the http://www.computerforum.com/52038-forum-rules.html

For programs not seen in the add/remove list look in the Programs menu and the folder like menu of options for each program there. On many there will be a link for uninstalling the program seen there. An increasing number of programs including softwares for video and sound cards along with tv tuner cards will have their own removal tool there and for video and sound a driver removal tool will be either found in a program folder or on the software disk.

On a similar note, for anyone who would like to know, you can hide entries in Add/Remove Programs by following this registry hack:

Disclaimer:
!! ALWAYS EDIT THE REGISTRY AT YOUR OWN RISK; BACKUP ANY KEYS YOU PLAN TO EDIT IN CASE SOMETHING GOES WRONG !!
!! I am not responsible for any damage caused by incorrect registry entries. !!

Okay, now on with it (This works on Windows9x through to XP, not sure about Vista because I haven't tried it)...

Open the Registry Editor
Start -> Run -> regedit
and navigate to the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

Find the entry for the program you want to hide. The value of the string DisplayName will be what you see in Add/Remove Programs.
You can either change the DisplayName value to say something different, or you can rename DisplayName to quietDisplayName and make that entry invisible to Add/Remove Programs.

Make your change, refresh the registry (F5), then reopen Add/Remove Programs.
The entry should now be changed or not shown depending on what you did.
To change it back, just reverse the procedure.

Hiding is one thing. But the main question here would be how to add programs to the add/remove list if any registry editing for that was intended. One way to remove a program and later delete all folders would be to remove the main registry keys. That is done usually when there are problems removing a program when the uninstaller or add/remove option fails to do that on it's own.

im curious as to why you would want to hide them? unless you installed something less than friendly and your wife uses your computer a lot in which case i just may have to take a gander at that but thats theoretically speaking of course

People may have reasons for hiding them or renaming them. That's a personal choice, I'm just showing that you can and how, and also how to look for hidden entries.

The reason I posted it in this thread is because the OP was about installed programs not showing up in Add/Remove, and hiding is one reason why they may not be shown there.

If you install the programs yourself and they are not seen in the add/remove list then you would simply look in the main list of programs for them there once you bring up the start menu. Some small programs don't create entries in the system registry at all and only a desktop shortcut with that being another reason why they won't be seen. For those you simply delete the shortcut and send the file or folder created for it into the recycle bin.
