In Firefox, goto the menu Tool -> Downloads and in the bottom left side of the download box it will say where you are downloading to.

If you want to change it goto Tools -> Preferences and on the Main tab there is a section to do with downloads change the one that says "Save file to"

I have Internet Explorer. I try to download things like for example music. I press to download the music, it asks were I want to save it, I send it to my music file and it starts showing thats its downloading....but I go look for it in the file and its not their? Can it be my McAfee security? Same thing with FireFox...I try to download it and it shows that its downloading but it just stops and nothing else shows up?

Okay, I have two suggestions you could try:

1) If you are comfortable going into the Windows Registry you can set where you want your downloads to go by following this link (ignore the Tweak Manager download link):

http://www.pctools.com/guides/registry/detail/842/

...or...

2) When IE asks where you want to save your download, tell it to save to the Desktop, then move your files elsewhere.
