Currently I have a hp pavilion a530n. It has a amd athlon 64 processor and 512 mb of memory. The computer is about 4 years old. I have been thinking of upgrading to a new computer. Would I be able to rebuild this computer or should I just buy a brand new system? Any help would be great. Thanks

I'm kind of in the same problem as you and I chose to upgrade mine. I like the idea of just upgrading it because you can pick the exact parts you want and you don't have to get what comes stock in the computer or whatever. You can upgrade the ram and probably the graphics card, if you want to play games, and then along down the line or if you have the cash right now upgrade to a faster processor which I plan to do eventually.

I'm going to upgrade my ram to 1GB and upgrade the graphics card and buy a LCD monitor. I could go ahead and get a processor but I need a LCD monitor because that old CRT isn't going to work.

Well i suppose you could upgrade your system but if you can afford a new system then i would build a new one.

a nice Core 2 duo system would be nice.:)

If I did decide to buy a new system, where is the best place to buy from? Also does anyone have any suggestions for what system to buy? I was looking at dell and hp.

How do you go about upgrading? Do you install everything yourself or do you take it to a computer store.

ooh right so i take it you cant build your own pc so....i would go Hp....Dont go dell hell:D

But it would be alot cheaper to build one yourself.

If you give us your budget and where your from im sure we can pick out a system.

Well from what I know and what i'm going to do is i'm going to buy the parts from www.newegg.com and install them myself and I guess it comes with details on how to do it. You just figure out what your system currently has like the graphics card and how much ram and then you figure out what type of ram it needs and just find it. I'm sure someone here could help you find the type of ram you need.

I live in Philadelphia, Pa. My budget is around $1000-$1200.

Totally, if you build it yourself then you could probably save hundreds than buying prebuilt, and get the parts of your choice. we can help you build your system.

I think I'm going to buy something new but building one sounds like it would save me some money. If I wanted to build my own where would I start?

he said his budget is $1000 - $1200 couple posts ago.

with that out of the way the next question is what is it you would like to do with you system? that way we can narrow the parts that would be necessary

I mostly use my computer to surf the net and download and listen to music and movies. I also do a lot of digital photography. I like to play a few games to.

No worry, I remember there is a user manual to teach you how to build your PC when I buy the hareward.
Or you can go to the internet, and just type 'build my own PC', there is lots of reference webiste to teach you anyway. If you still can fix it, just come here and ask question.

Forget to ask you, Is your $1200 need to include Monitior?
