Scanning produces black background

Hi.

I have a new flatbed scanner and since I installed it I get black background around the image. So let say I'm scanning a 3''x6'' photo and after it is scanned in, all the area what is between A4 paper and the size of this photo is black. So if I want to print it off, it takes a lot of black ink.
Please give me some ideas?

Regards,

Unfortunately that's how some scanners scan the image. Unless their is a specific option to change that, you really can't do anything.

What you can do though is just edit the picture. Scan your 3x6 and cut the picture itself with any image editing program such as Paint or Gimp. Then paste it or save it on a new document and print that.
