Hmm, as likely as it sounds that Vienna will hit the shelves in 2009, I don't think it'll happen. Considering it was like a 4-5 year gap between XP and Vista, and even then Vista still had a lot of flaws. Why would Microsoft want to release Vienna so soon to Vista, when Vista itself is only really starting to become popular, and will only reach it's potential when DX10 gaming is the norm. Seems a bit pointless to me, but oh well.

you guys are already running for vienna, yet Microsoft haven't been able to sort out vista

And that, I forgot to say that. But yes, It seems all pointless to release another OS when they can't get the previous one right, because the flaws they couldn't fix in Vista will be carrired forward plus the ones that will come out with Vienna.

Barely anyone knows much of anything about Vienna. The minimum requirements are definitely not known (maybe not even by MS). Vienna is far in the future.

hopefully vienna will require less than vista, and return Luna back to the throne of themes..lol

I honestly don't think Microsoft will ever fix up Vista to be "perfect". I think they're going to concentrate alot more on this next release. They have alot more resting on the next release then they did on Vista.

Despite Vista'a flaws hasn't it been the best selling edition of windows?

Also, in most industries an item is only replaced when it is no longer of use. So if they still have issues with Vista, and DX10 gaming is yet to take hold, and Vista does everything that a modern day computer needs it to, then why bother creating another operating system? XP did the job for years, hence why an upgrade was never needed until 4-5yrs later. Most people are happy to continue with XP even today

I recently installed a computer system (v small one) at my mum's company, and i was impressed with Vista. Im not sure why, but there is just something about it. Im still not sure whether to go with Vista or XP for my comp.

Although i will say one thing, it does seem fair slow. My mum's comps are running AMD Athlon X2 64 4800+ chips with 1GB of RAM, and it takes it times to perform certain tasks. It will take a good 5-6secs to open a very small word file. Now 6secs doesnt sound like long, but you sit there for 6 secs and then just think how long that actually is to open a small word file.

Vienna is probably just the code name for the project, like Longhorn was for Vista.

I'm almost certain the original post in this thread is just spam for some pay per click advertising page.

Codename change is official
January 19, 2006

"The codename for Blackcomb has changed to 'Vienna'. This does not reflect a big change for us; we have used city code names in the past," a Microsoft spokesperson said in a statement. "These code names are derived from cities/locations in the world known for great 'vistas'. The kinds of places we all want to see, experience and that capture the imagination. Vienna fits with this concept."

I'm sure it will be years before this is ever released, they have to make tons of money off Vista first

Mark my words, they are going to change and delay just like Vista. What was Vista called in its early days? Longhorn? The name Vista wasn't around till mid 2006 I think, so whatever rumours you know now, they are going to be very different when the next OS comes out.
