Thats normal, but i have NEVER seen vista actually use all of the 2gb at once. So don't worry 2gb is plenty.

aren't there any other running processes at startup ?
you also need to keep in mind that vista was made to eat ram

2 gig memory should not have too much problem..2 gig memory or less would lag ur system down badly.

I had a discount upgrade to vista as soon as it came out ... i stayed with trusty xp as vista would have killed my system.

When i turn on comp... It is already using 40 Percents of my 2 gig memory wtf...

I used to have vista but i got rid of it because 1.you could easily download the theme if thats what you wanted and 2. it uses ALOT more memory then xp. If i were you i would go back to xp and download VistaVG.

It's all the 3d effects and unnecessary running processes vista uses that make it such a pig. Typically, a vista computer right out of the box will have 80-85 running processes vs about 35-40 with xp pro depending on the AV you use. If you get rid of the factory installed spyware you can cut that down by about 20%.

I think that it's cool how Vista uses so many resources, as long as it can turn them off and lower what it uses when a program/game needs it. If I spend over $1,500 for a computer, I want it to be utilized as much as possible, I dont want the CPU usage to be at 1% and only a few processes running.

Basically what it comes down to is, your using Vista, get used to it!

Sorry to be so flippant, but it's the truth.

Thats kinda suck... I can't even run multiple games now

Oh no... how horrible. What ever are you going to do?

Really though, why would you need to run multiple games at the same time?

I found that after getting rid of all of the useless factory installed software, and stopping the startup programs, Vista now uses about 35% of my 1.5 GB on my laptop. And, it starts up way faster than any XP computer I had ever did. Even runs faster than my custom built desktop, just doesn't do intense things like games and encoding and stuff as fast.

The problem is that vista doesn't turn off any of its processes when you need the resources for another app.
