2 connectors on the back of my HDD - Whats the other for?

There's one normal sata, and then there's this 15 pin one

Do i need to plug both the small one, and the 15 pin in for it to work correctly?

The 15pin is the power plug. You only need to plug that in if it doesn't have a normal 4pin molex plugged in already.
