you should also be aware that the name of the thread is very confusing and you should consider revising.
there is no contest already. my laptop can beat anything the ps3 has to offer. it all comes down to resolution, really. monitors and graphics cards are capable of very high resolution, and 42" tvs arent, even the 1080p ones dont. if you dont believe me, go to best buy and see for yourself.

you cant say weither a console is better than a pc or vice versa to be honest.
I mean, look at the old xbox, it had a what? 700MHz Pentium III CPU and 64 Mb of RAM. but when you look at the games it can actually play, its amazing what that hardware can do. so in terms of performance for the hardware, imo the console beats a pc by far. but, ofcourse you can get a better pc hardware wise than a console, and get about the same fps in a game, but you can also do other things with your pc, likse word, browsing the internet etc. but you can also watch dvd's on your 360 (yea, yea.. you can watch dvd's on your pc.. but who actually does that instead of watching them on a tv screen?

yeah but which gives better graphics is what he asked. which would be a pc.

I think a massive amount of it is down to money too. For example, a PS3 costs like £450, that wont buy you a very interesting PC at all.
Also, does anyone notice an image thing with it too? For example, if you’re kicking back in a big chair, playing your PS3 on a big tele with a beer, then you’re ‘cool’. But if you’re sat in the corner on your PC you’re not?
Anyone else find that?

depends on if your buying a new pc or upgrading. I recently upgraded to a quad core, improved graphics, memory, mobo etc and it was around the £400 mark. So a bit cheaper than a PS3 in the end for much better........
stop sitting in the corner on your PC then?
I have mine in my room and its hooked up to my LCD TV, I have Xbox 360 wireless controllers hooked up to it too so I can get my friends round and happily play Pro Evolution soccer 6 on my PC and i guess it still looks "cool"

PC is superior to a 360 in ever which way! we can hit resolutions dubble that of 1080p HDTV,s (not to mention that a 360 never even gets that hi res when playing a game) we can upgrade our rig to make it stronger, the most hi end of games only come to PC, the 360 doesn't even use all 3 cores, we can overclock, we can customize inside and out, the graphics are MUCH better, there are more parts to games that console wont get to see (ie: more levels, more multiplayer levels), multiplayer is FREE for PC, you can go to LAN parties, and sooooo much more!

first of all i would like to say it depends on what card you got...and we all know pc has better graphics but personally game play matters most to me and also yeah the best upgrade for a 360 is 120 GB hard Drive but honestly you can barley tell

You asked graphically...The contest was whether it was a better GAMING platform. Do you realize what resolution 1080p is? 1920x1080, I believe thats LARGER then your current resolution Cheese no? Just cause its a ram sucking or cpu eating game doesnt mean its good, just high end. I know a lot of games that dont use both cores in duel machines.
Now Im just breaking away for this bit here, WHERE ARE YOU GETTING THIS? How in any way shape or form are the graphics "better"? Besides being a complete opinion, If you were to run a pc and a 360 at the same resolution, same monitor, with say, halo2 in it you would not see a difference-at all. The xbox is also programed FOR the game so you would get better FPS anyway.
Why wont consoles get to see said "parts" Is there not xbox live? With free automatic updates? I know several games for pc that dont have free multiplay. WOW being one, farside is another. Xbox's are easier to take to lans, just one box and a controller, no monitor, no speakers, no keyboard, no mouse.
Face it, the xbox 360 is a better in GAMING because its DESIGNED to game. Besides your fighting a console thats a couple years old. Its like with graphics cards. You could argue for hours that the 8800gtx has better graphics then a 8800gts, whats the real difference, a couple mhz and 100$. That dont even AFFECT graphics, they simply make them run more smoothly.
You cant compare graphics anyway because graphics come from the game. There is a larger market in computer games, therefor you say the games that come out look better, because the game makers are being payed more. You could pay a game making team to make a great looking game for xbox and a not so great one for pc, but its not profitable.
While your busy making stupid threads on this Ill be out enjoying myself with 3 other friends on my xbox.

how sad. the 360 never get that res in game. in fact, all the games i have seen on it NEVER get higher than 800x600 because they cant process all that info. you want a review showing that PC has "better graphics"? lets take Bioshock for example http://ve3d.ign.com/articles/news/33906/Review-PC-BioShock-Outshines-360-Version. i sure can compare graphics. if we install any game from PC/360, and could change graphical setting on both, i can guarantee that my PC can handle higher settings than a 360. parts as in halo custom edition, never was for console, new single player levels in gears of war for PC. the 2 new F.E.A.R. expansion packs for PC only. etc. while your waisting you time on X box, i will be playing games that are worth playing (ones that 360 cant even handle in its wildest dreams)

Exactly, you said your pc can HANDLE the settings, not that it would look better. Its down to the game makers how good the graphics are. What runs it does have affect, but very very little.
I can name quite a few games that arnt for pc. COD3, Halo3, Mass Effect, Too human, and more.

has Intel, have you SEEN the 360 play F.E.A.R.? if you have, what res do you think that it? Kobaj, if you actually truly look at it and compare you can easily tell. if you did not know, super hi res take an enormous amount of processing power. such that the 360 can not handle.
