Time for a mac?

Well, my laptop (Acer Travelmate 2300) is dying a slow and painfull death..

Basically I'm just waiting for it to totally die. So its time for a new laptop, and im thinking about getting a mac.

I want to get the macbook pro if i am getting a mac. My only concern is what it is like moving from windows to mac. Has anyone else here moved from windows to a mac, and if so what did you think of it, and do you like it better?

Thanks,
Jbrown

I use a PC everyday, but I got a MacBook for when I am out of the house doing school work.

I adapted fine. Takes some getting use to, like, no right clicking and stuff.

If your going to dual boot Windows, might as well get a PC laptop, unless you want a Mac, and just going to use Windows here and there.

I dont see a point to dual boot.

It should last for like 5 and a half if your only doing word, but if you are watching movies or doing any other applications, this will drop down.

if you were talking about the battery memory, I havnt had a problem with my mac book pro since i bought it over the summer. eventually all batterys will degrade, but i think they used some pretty high quality batteries in it.

I would advise you to wait for leopard to come out before buying one.

I bought my MacBook about a week ago.
Battery is great.
I can browse the web and stuff and be fine.

A MacBook Pro might drain the battery more though.

Having used, supported, and repaired about every single brand of laptop out there I can very safely say that my Macbook Pro is the best laptop I have ever owned hands down. It rocks! I run 4 OSes on it via virtual machines, I can ssh or remote in to any client workstation or server, I script almost everything to automate the process, and of course I use it to integrate my other gadgets like my cell phone and what not. Now, of course they are not with out flaw, and I do dislike some of the lacking features but I am not your average user and if you compare OS X 10.0 to 10.4 the difference is night and day. It has gotten so much better and it will continue to get better and better.

I love mac for anything other than gaming.
Its pretty easy to move...i think.
They have software you can buy that will move everything or you can do it manually fairly easily i belive.

I've only used a mac a littl, but they do seem really nice, if you do buy one make sure you wait until the new OS (Leapard) is released, 26th ish, and they are also said to be releasing some new models - http://www.tuaw.com/2007/10/04/rumor-mac-mini-turns-nano-in-late-october/
