I've just noticed that my system will not burn cds,be it audio,data,etc...Ive tried different burning programs, nero, windows media player and it goes through the burning process as if it was burning, when it finishes and i verify burn, it give me errors, and nothing has been written to disk.Ive tested the disks on another computer and they work fine,I've also used the same burning software to burn dvds and that works fine aswell.my operating system is vista,my laptop is a gateway MT3705,my dvd/cd burner is TSSTcorp cd/dvdw ts-l632d ata device.I recently reinstalled vista about 2 weeks ago,and i was able to burn cds before.Your help would be greatly appreciated.Thank you in advance.

Did you reinstall the drivers when you reinstalled Vista? You should have the driver disk or if you don't, you can google for the Toshiba-Samsung drive.

It seems that the laser to burn cd's went bad. There are 2 different lasers, 1 for cd's and 1 for DVD's. What I would do is try going back to XP and see if it burns fine again. If not, then you know its a problem with the drive and hopefully its under warranty.
