Morning all, happy black friday.
Anyways I have a pc that is unbootable, and connecting it as a slave drive to one of my pc's when I try to open it, it just says would you like to format the drive?
How do I get data from it without using windows?

when windows crapped out for me last time, i used a knoppix linux CD to get to the files and backed them up on an external drive.

its a tough one.
You make it sound like its dead. may-be.
Please check out the site below. Many proggys are free. others not.

http://www.ntfs.com/products.htm

query ntfsdos at google.
you can create a boot disk with some freeware for ntfsdos but will only
read with a dos boot only. The pro will allow you to extract with dos functions.

if its external maybe like off usb. query 'usb drivers panasonic dos'.

both are must have in an arsenal. If you gave a bit more info i might
be able to help with this subject. is the hd dead or not moving at all.
any activity? if your confortable with dos and only extraction
then maybe i can help. if its extreme, critical and data recovery
i can find my links for a window environment.

OK.
It is my dad's other work pc, I think that the drive may be crapping out, but ran a diagnostic test off the UBCD and it checked out with errors, but it fixed them some how. It spins when trying to boot but just a blank cursor flashing when booting from the hd, for some reason it will not allow it to boot from cd either. But when I put the HD in another pc, it allows it to boot from a cd. It is very critical, business files and contacts for my dads work.

OK, So when I try to copy it through windows it asks me if I want to format it, leaving me unable to get it back.
Just copied the entire contents to a partion on another system and when I try to access it asks the same thing.

So how do I get the data off there? I don't need the whole thing, just specific data files, any way to go through the directory and pick out folders to copy over? I used hd clone pro, if that helps.
