dual layer dvd-rw

i found out that dual layer dvd-rw is already in the market but it seems that you need a compatible drive to write on the disc. i already search the net, but not enough info, my question is: if we need a compatible drive, can we just modify or update the dvd-drive firmware and burn on this dvd-rw dl?

NO. You need a new drive. You can find them for about $30 on Newegg

stuff on newegg is quite cheap but unfortunately it does not ship to overseas.
