Going rates for cleaning and inspection

What are the general going rates for taking your computer in and having the case blown out and basic clean ups of files and stuff?

What are most places charging for formating a drive and Re-Installing OS?

For taking your computer to be blown in and stuff, idk, but if its more then $10 do it yourself.

For basic cleans ups and files, idk.

For reformatting a drive and reinstalling the OS would be around 70+ at the place a family friend owns.

Cool,,what are places charging for stuff like virus removal?Or are they just reinstalling the OS?

Well, Best Buy's rate is $350 for in home and $300 for carry in diagnostic and repair which is what they call basic malware removal and cleanup which seems pretty ridiculous. you could probably find a small computer store to do it much cheaper, but I doubt anyplace you take it into will be less than $100. If you have a computer savvy friend, you can probably get it done for free or $20-$50.

yeah, i mean it's not that hard. open up the side of your case and take a thing of compressed air to it and all the dust will come out and you won't hurt a thing. as for the software'ish stuff, you can navigate around on this forum and get an idea how to do that.

I am perfectly capable of doing this sort of work myself.I am asked by friends of friends all the time to help them out and was wondering what they were getting charged if they walked through the door at some place.

Now I know I can get two cases of beer out of the deal and not just one.:D
