Laptop cooling pads.

Is it worth the money to buy a laptop cooling pad? I use my laptop at my mom's store most of the time, and it runs anywhere from 2-6 hours. What are the benifits of a cooler running computer. I can get one at target for like $30.

I need to get one. If you have your laptop on you lap (thats what its for... right?) its better to get a small one because older laptops like mine need them to stop you from getting 1st degree burns on your legs.

How about this one. It doesn't require power and can be portable if necessary.

Just remember thats my opinion and I am no specialist in cooling so don't blame me if the cooling pad heats up and blows your house up :)

My laptop (gaming) I normally put a book or something on the back edge to lift it up a little to get more air because my laptop sits almost flush to the table.

So if you're too worried and dont want to pay money just prop it up just not too high.

I did elevate my laptop this weekend and i did cool it down a little bit but i still think a cooling pad would really help this thing.

if you do anything for hours other than simple tasks like word processing/surfing then yes. mine lowers my temps at least 7c

i'd get one that has fans situated right under the vent.

well I'm selling a cooling pad in the for sale section... I used it on my beast of a laptop from alienware that overheated like crazy and it cooled it down quite a bit. that thing ran at 75C and if I remember correctly went down to the mid 50's to low 60's.

Think I'm going to order one off new egg with the next pay check. My laptop has never shut down due to overheating. It just makes a constaint sound like a fan is running. Not sure if this thing has two fans on it or not. I know the one on the bottom facing down isn't working. According to fan speed I'm not getting any rpm out of either.

For you laptop users out there:

I saw a magazine that had an article about men who use laptops and fertility. If guys are using the laptop on their lap for a few hours a day (or any variation of this for more that just a few minutes), the temperature difference can actually be enough to mess up your swimmers fertility. I know this is off topic but this thread reminded me of it.

Look into this if you are one of these guys.

Mine just says on the desk, so I don't have to worry about that. LOL
