0k to start, I'm not a forum guy, therefore I found need in something and this my first post, ever. So if I've done anything wrong please just tell me, don't insult me.
Ok, that said, I'm going to be building my first computer, and have had approximately 3 weeks of intoxicated studying on what I want, which is basically something better than an Xbox 360. I'm here looking for exactly what I want, and if you can help i will be ever greatful, so much so if you can find me the parts for cheaper, I'll send you 1/3 of the difference. I know it may wind out to 30 cents, but i"ll do it. My questions are basically, have enough ram to work, do I have the right starter wattage, do I NEED anything I don't have on the list, should I get more fans, you know basically guide me so I don't burn out or even blow up my expensive new baby. Things like me getting a second graphics card right away, super ram, or anything I can wait a year to get, I would prefer to wait, but you can suggest all you want, I'll like. But the other stuff like, don't go amd or windows sucks, I've seen that intel is doing better, and linux is a powerhouse, I've still made my choice there. So yeah I wouldn't know how the paint my questions clearer and here is what I think I want. This list is what I'm planning on buying, putting together and turning on.... and being proud of, maybe even throw a huge party for. I have the exact models, the cheapest prices I've found(and can trust), and where I've found them.

You've done at least one thing wrong. You use a large font.

Unless there are specific reasons for using large fonts (eye disorders, higlighting a word, titles...etc), don't use them, because it makes reading kind of difficult.

This is no offence or insult or anything like that, take it as friendly advice. Using "normal"-sized fonts (the default wil do fine) makes things easier for readers.

Cheers! :)

Ya can you edit it and put it back to normal size so we can help you out here? I hate reading big font so I can't help for now

I would just go ahead and say to order everything from one place, or at least try to split it evenly... that will help you out with payments and shipping, etc. Just go with newegg, as they are trusted and have good shipping rates.

Thank you for reading this.

I don't believe you can get something with "Better" performance then a 360 for the same price ($350). True you can double the money and maybe find something "as" good but still. I'm not saying you shouldn't build a computer I'm just letting you know... I would recommend a 360 for gaming anyhow considering goofy lag and controls on PC. (sometimes)

just the video card i dont think the 3850 is close to a 360 graphic. go wtih either 8800GT,GTS,GTX, that would be closer then the 3850

i highly recommend that you re-consider the phenom CPU. i think most people would agree that the intel q6600 outperforms the phenom in every application.

Yep. Q6600 batters Phenom around quite a bit...in terms of raw performance. Phenom has *a bit* better powersaving features than intel (new version cool'n'quiet i think) and is cheaper, somewhere I read that both have almost exact same performance-to-price ratio.

Just remember...if it HAS to be Phenom, make sure its B3-stepping or newer. Earlier phenoms had a bug that would occasionally cause the system to crash, and the workaround (disabling L3 cache altogether if i remember...?) comes with a peformance loss of *at least* 10%.

Alright, thank you all.... much faster than I thought, and wow on the amount of responses, especially the one that said I had disappeared. Nope just posted this went to work, and thought I'd check it in about a week... ha. SO yeah anyway, I knew the 360 remark was going to cause confusion, I only want to play todays games on it, without swallowing my pride and buying a 360. I am upping the card to the 3670, I did check into the nvidia of course and that's how I came to the conclusion. 1. My favorite card today is still the old Voodoo 3 2000 pci.... it was my best friend. Amd seem to have the same fog shading style that I love, if this makes any sense to anyone, I had to switch from a geforce to a radeon in order to rettain interest in Alice, and how old is that game. I dont' know, intel's pentium kinda sucked.. alot. but the athlon was an awesome upgrade too. My old games are more compatible. I believe amd and ati are built for gamers, and intel and nvidia are benchmark whores that they've completely overlooked something... the void i felt with Nvidia, and almost stopped playing video games. and to the guy who found the $5 price dif. if you're cool to give a stranger your address so he can send you a $1.67 money order, I'll do it, I keep my word.

I did forget a major detail actually, cause I've heard horrible things so far. I'm planning on Windows Vista 64-bit edition, profes, or ultimate - I've heard this is a system drainer, but I feel the need to be 64-bit cause I can, but I don't know if I have the ram for vista and should get more, or keep my system and get xp...? I just don't want to know what all those people who bought windows ME felt like.

And last check, I don't need any extra fans or anything? all my connections work right? sata 2 and ram and case and peripherals and all such whatnot.

The Q6600 might beat it, but it's percentage of how much the Q6600 is better, also is that much cheaper.

AM2+ boards are very expensive though :(
