hi all, im just wondering how many people out there still make do with their old p3/p4 laptops...

i currently am still making use of my c600 and c400 for everyday use besides gaming and i gotta say they still perform better than ever. (basic school work and surfing the web; very basic tasks)

so i am wondering how many of us still use old machines....im just very amazed how i haven't really looked to upgrading my laptop anytime soon.

hope to hear from you guys!

I have a super old Desktop thats was given to me for free. It is a Gateway and has a 900mhz processor, 64mb ram, and a 13gb hdd. I plan on adding some more ram and trying to install xp on it or maybe linux.

Sadly, I don't have a laptop. :(

Not too long ago I had to replace the drive in my friend's HP Omnibook 6000. That has a P3 in it. I was surprised how fast it really was. The only problem it has is that it constantly freezes (don't know why) and one of the memory slots doesn't work, so even though she has 384 MB of RAM, it only detects the 256 MB stick. She doesn't have much money, so she has to make due with that one. At least she has a new Dell desktop.

Well my parents has a small P3 laptop (like 10.1" or something). I use it for school sometimes (our teachers allow us to bring in laptops to type things up sometimes).

Most p4's are plenty fast for daily needs and then some, problem is most of these machines need a fresh OS install and more RAM 99% of the time...

Very Very true!! I had to reinstall windows a couple times on my mom's pc as I didnt feel like cleaning it up. Plus she doesnt store anything on it at all besides music which can easily be added later.
