Windows XP Professional - User Restrictions

At School they put user restrictions on each account so that they can't do any damage to the network.

I want to do that on mine but I want restrictions like where you can't display control panel on the start menu & my computer.

this is usually done by editing the group policy editor (gpedit.msc i think...) and by creating various user groups. You put restrictions on a user group and create user accounts in the respective user group... type gpedit.msc in RUN for details but don't change anything unless you know what u r doing..

It is done user the server network.... so you can really do anything unless you run a server.

There are still some registry tweaks and whatnot (Group policy editor being one) that should allow him to do that. It's not necessarily always the server.

Yes - i found that out when a friend of mine to a registry clean on the Light + sound laptop and he slowed the computer and had to go back to IT.

google for registry tweaks.. there are hell lot of sites with those info.. that shud be enuf.. regarding restrictions from server, that is the case in a network, not on a stand-alone comp.. also turning ur pc into a server is no big deal.. just have apache or IIS installed.
