very true, but they have higher clocks which means the gpu is probably the 55nm version or they have more beastly heatsinks. the gts250 also can come in 1gb, so id prefer that. but im still contemplating if i should get the gtx260 now, or get the 8800gts and wait till i can afford a better...

well when i had my 9800gt i was enjoying crysis and whatnot playing maxxed out, resolution WAS 1024x768. im on a 17" lcd. then i found out it supports 1280x1024 and ive been using that, so i doubt the 8800gts can pump crysis at that resolution maxxed, but its still better than integrated for...

i shy away from ati, had bad driver experiences in the past and nowdays i see they havent improved much since there are still tons of driver issues with vista and whatnot. i mean, the 4870 1 gb was beat by the gtx260/216 with less video memory, about a quarter of the pixel pipelines, and slower...

i'd start with moving the cmos jumper to drain the battery, put it back, and try a reboot.

I want the lowest score! I sold my 8800gts, and decided to run 3dmark on integrated graphics for shiz n giggles hey it stunk in 3dmark, but for some reason i can get 150 fps on counter strike source and about 50 in COD 4, freakin onboard 8200 haha. so poopy

just for the fun of it, is there another computer you can switch your harddrive into and boot on that?

try booting in safe mode, uninstalling the 8400gs drivers from the device manager, then make sure you can boot without safe mode using the onboard graphics, then reinstall everything. let us know if that works
