Yeah... 3Gb is eight times slower than 3GB.

    Computer

You don't really need much for an FTP server, that system will be fine, but I'd suggest maybe getting a little more RAM for it if you have the money. Also, $40 is a pretty good price for a system like that. A year and a half ago I spent $45 on a PIII 450MHz with 128MB of RAM.

is this a good combo to get???

One thing I can see is that the ZS has a firewire port, so this allows a different way of connecting external audio devices for recording.

$500 for information. Is this legal?

Well... the thing is... the server in which the forum is running off of can track the IP address of this person, and with an IP address, you can basically find out everything you need to know about the person (unless they're running through a proxy, of course).

is this a good combo to get???

Usually OEM is cheaper, but you might not get as good of a warranty. I almost always buy OEM whenever possible :).

is this a good combo to get???

I think the Audigy 2 Value will serve you well with those speakers.

    Dual Booting Windows and Knoppix

Well if you're planning on getting Ubuntu on your 7GB left... you'll need to get a partitioning program like Partition Majic to convert the 7GB from FAT32 to Linux. Otherwise, you could just add a new blank hard drive to your machine and install Ubuntu on that.

is this a good combo to get???

There's no use in spending $180 on a sound card and only getting $80 speakers. First of all, most people wouldn't notice much difference in the sound quality of a $180 sound card and a $40 one. I'd recommend just getting a good, standard Sound Blaster card with 7.1 support. If you want the...

If more than one person has the same file open at the same time on the network, then Microsoft Word makes it read-only.

Ethernet PCI card or USB LAN adapter???

No, you won't use dial-up anymore. When you connect to the network, there may be some configuring you'll have to do, but once you do that, you'll be able to get internet access through the network. When you get your card, put it in one of the PCI slots... they're usually tan colored. It will...

    Private Network

Hook the two PCs together using a switch and have the switch connected to a router. Then have the router separate this network from the other network you have.

    Wouldn't This Make Sense?

Yeah... that would work. The benefit you'd get from getting a 20GB one would be that you could have a lot more variety of songs on your IPod at once, and you wouldn't have to worry about not having the particular songs you want on your IPod at a specific time.

    playing ps2 on a laptop

You can't just hook the PS2 up to the coax input on your TV tuner card and go to channel 3 or 4?

Ethernet PCI card or USB LAN adapter???

I'd suggest getting a PCI ethernet card... I believe they are going to be much cheaper than buying a USB one. As far as a modem goes, you won't use it anymore once you get your internet through the network. You'll just connect the RJ-45 jack into your network card and that'll be it.

all halo pc games new thread!!

Yeah I have no idea why they have "1-4 players" on the site... obviously only one person can use a PC at once, but online and on a LAN, you can have many more than four players at once on a server.

Whats the best PCI video card out there?

That looks like a nice card for PCI.

are all halo pc games multiplayer?

Sounds like they're talking about the XBox version of the game. Are you sure they didn't accidentally classify this game as a PC game? With the PC version, technically only one person can play per computer, but you can have way more than four people play on a map at once online and on a LAN.

How long would a good graphic card be good for

If you can look back to around three years ago, you can see that one of the big boys was the ATI 9700 Pro. This was real high-end for then, and now, it would probably struggle on quite a few of the newer games. I'd probably say plan on that 6800GT lasting you for a year and a half to two years.
